right dh is self employed and sub contracts so he gets those tax slips saying how much tax he has paid. these have to be passed to the tax man. now I want to do his tax on line(did it last year and was so easy) but what do we do with the tax slips? he asked at the tax office and they didn't know. we haven't got a accountant as the tax office helpline said we didn't need one.

Have you looked here - Revenue & Customs CIS

You keep them for 7 years. They don't look for them so DH says.
Law says to keep them for that long.
If they ask for them then you can send them on. HTH

Keep them safe (and preferably in a place where you can find them if needs be).

We got randomly audited last year and it was a bloody nightmare because my DH has only been organised since I met him.....before that - well there was a shoebox involved

I know that we have to hand them in as he will most likely get a rebate.
