Are CRT (traditional tube) TVs becoming a rare breed or what?

Trying to get a 14" with DVD for a bedroom. Don't want to pay £100+ for one. And I think you have to pay significantly more than that to get quality in an LCD - bottom of the range LCD really are pants IMO.

Looks like we are limited to a bush pink one (which wouldn't be the end of hte world) or a list of brands I have never heard of or think of as poorer quality e.g. proline, wharfdale, digilogic....I just want a bit of choice - is that too much to ask?

We even went into one electrical retailer an they didn't have a single CRT TV on sale.

CRT. but its a 28" one. dh bought it 3 years ago. try asda, tesco etc. the cheaper ones are fine. especially if just for a bedroom

I have had proline and warfdale and are both fine.Mymain Tv is Wharfdale and has been going for 8 years so far where as my Mams panasonic has been replaced twice in that time.

DH is out buying one for MIL at moment. Major manufacturers have abandoned these televisions and only do LCD/Plasma etc. Upmarket retailers such as John Lewis don't stock them at all. Argos, Curries etc still sell some, but I don't think you would find a Sony/Panasonic etc anymore.

Argos have Alba/Bush/Hitachi under £100 (but would have been cheaper a couple of years ago)

You get a £10 voucher if you spend £100 by Monday though.

It is a pressie for DTDs birthday. I think we are going to get grandparents to contribute and get them a reasonable LCD.

Thanks for the replies.
