If my mum's assailant pleaded guilty, what does it mean if they're suspending sentance pending reports?

I can only imagine it's a mental health issue. Any thoughts?

jules, thanks for replying.

We went earlier this year, to see Mum and also to go to the Sylvanian shop . While we were on the bus a woman next to the window asked Mum if she come out. To cut it short, Mum said of course she could, but the woman demanded Mum get up while the bus was moving, and said she'd hit her if she didn't. Ma turned round 45 degrees, thinking that was fine, at which point the woman got up and hit her for not getting fully up, IYSIW.

Thankfully someone was coming down the stairs and restrained this woman. He (and most of the bus) gave evidence. The whole bus was sealed off while the police arrived - and this was in Oxford Street. We, after everyone who was happy to leave a statement, were incarcerated on there while the police did their biz. Me, Mum, and dds.

That's it, really. Dds were crying loads, took a bit of persuasion to get them to visit Nanny this week. And I cannot fault the police - "I'll go and get you a McDonalds" - bless him, dds hate them, but he got them a Fruit Shoot instead.
