OK, well if it's windows, go to C:/windows/system 32/drivers/etc and in there there is a file called hosts. open it in notepad. On a new line, type the address of the site and any old numbers: this will send any requests for that site to the IP address you've just typed and not to the real one. when you try to access the site it'll look like it's down.

Do they have a firewall or proxy server, BananaKnickers? (great name, BTW!) The IT dept should be able to configure it to prevent access to whatever they want. But it will say "this is a banned site" or whatever.

Why don't they just tell her to get her lazy bum back to work! Unless it's Mumsnet she's on, of course

Bananaknickers · 03/04/2007 20:17

Yes they are on windows and I will pass this on to him thank you SenoraPostrophe

That's just bonkers. Won't she complain when she gets locked out of her favourite site anyway?!

Bananaknickers · 03/04/2007 20:26

she may I don't know. She also spends her time writing letters for family and friends. She leaves all the pages open too

Well she just doesn't give a toss, does she...

...actually, sounds a bit like me in my last job
