It was around Newbury. Couldn't understand why we had a pile up, till we saw the police on our side. Then, an articulated lorry, at right angles to the motorway, it's cabin just pushing through the central reservation (which thankfully was wire, not stone). No other vehicles could pass as it took up the whole three lanes. And, in front of it, a crushed-up minibus. I couldn't wait to get home, but why do people (including DH) insist on driving at 80mph? I couldn't even work out how it had happened, although the articulated lorry's window was smashed tho' it did look as if he might have made it. It honestly was the worst accident I've ever seen .. and I've been thinking about it all day

Sorry to hear about this carla, it absolutely throws you though when you witness one doesn't it? Last bank holiday, on the M6, a car about 20 yards in front of us suddenly flew up into the air and then landed on it's roof. As I drove past a just saw a young man's arm sticking out of the window. I just screamed and had to pull over I was shaking so much. Don't know if he survived, didn't hear anything about it on the local news. Horrible, couldn't stop thinking about it for quite some time

Thanks, Tinker. That, and another post on here today, made me realise how mortal we all are ....
