I went out on Saturday night for a meal with dp and some of his family to meet a couple of his cousins on holiday from Northern Ireland (nine or ten of us. After the meal we went round the corner to a new designer bar nearly everyone of the group walked in, I tried to and the bouncer tapped me on the shoulder and said "You're not going in"sad{} Am I right to feel a bit fed up?

Why??

lemonice · 17/07/2004 19:36

Well presumably I was too old, ie wasn't wearing trainers and it was only 9.15 so wasn't drunk and was wearing black trousers and beaded embroidered v neck t shirt (but I did have a coat on)

Dp went in and they all came out with me. I felt really embarrassed as I was the oldest and hadn't met the cousin and his wife before. When it was a pub I was allowed in, watched some of the world cup in there but it now has new management and new chairs

what was the dress code? you had black trousers and a black top on, why couldnt you go in?

lemonice · 17/07/2004 19:50

There were three very large doormen and I didn't say anything - actually I was stunned into humiliated silence. I've heard of this happening to other people in different bars in town once they have makeovers but i thought it was a myth!

No trainers apparently but dp had an oakley snowboarding jacket on which looks abit like a parka so would have thought that would have been bad (but he was let in). Both the other women were wearing trousers. This means i can't go out with my own family??!!

do you think they may have thought you were underage?

or a drug dealer?

lemonice · 17/07/2004 20:00

More likely because i wasn't a drug dealer!
