my best friends parenst did...

they thought they had it insured properly, they didnt. The storage place was broken into and most of their (and other peoples stuff) was stolen

it was only afterwards that the realised they hadnt insured it for enough.

whilst im not suggesting your stuff witll be stolen please insure you have enough insurance to cover it just in case!

I did when we moved , the house we bought was not liveable in for months, so we lived with PIL and MIL, and had our stuff in storage. it was insured to the hilt and we had to pay monthly. was quite reasonable , and we knew the company was reputable ...

lulumama · 26/03/2007 18:41

We did, with Pickfords, they were great... well insured and stored in climate controlled conditions. Make sure you pick a reputable company and have a brutal clearout before you do!

We did recently. It cost us £600 for the removal into storage, approx £250 per month to keep it there (4 crates worth) and £300 for the stuff to be brought out of storage 6 months later. The firm we used (In-Excess Removals of Hemel) were fantastic - can't praise them enough.

Hi,

try Kelly's Storage, they give you containers to pack at your leisure and will collect and store and take to your new house, and costs starts around £18 per week, you can even rent lockable containers to store yourself, i.e. if you have family with a driveway that will store it.

HTH

Thanks for that - was thinking of hiring a skip to chuck out all rubbish! Should start sorting now really...

Anything else?

Any companies in the south east?

Ours is a 2 bed house and the only big things we are going to move into storage will be our bed (& maybe the setees)

We live in Surrey and have had 3 quotes for this - from clockwork removals, pickfords and an online broker called removals.com. all come in around £75 a week for our 3 bedroomed house

we moved with Overs International who are in Aldershot, stored stuff while we rented and then moved into this house, and they were fine; flexible about only storing some of our things and charged on a cubic metre basis (though I think that's standard)

I used Access - they were great. Ideal if you need to get access to your stuff whilst it's in storage and the staff are really helpful. Echo the comment about making sure you are insured.
