Downloading music off the net?

Was wondering if someone could let me know where is the best place to download music for my mp3 player online??

I don't fancy paying the monthly fee with napster.

Is there anywhere I can just pay for the tracks I want. Also looking for somewhere with older music than the recent charts.

No Ipod I'm afraid. Just a normal mp3 player.

you can use itunes for mp3players too, you download the music to your pc so can then put it on anything you wish

With the free download sites would I not get a knock at the door by police?? or do you mean its free it sign up ?
