twins separated at birth, fall in love with same girl, one is posh, one isn't.
dire consequences and audience likely to crap themselves if not aware of impending gun shots in Act II.

In a nutshell, it's about a working class woman Mrs Johnstone who has twins, Eddie and Mickey.

She can't afford to keep both, so gives Eddie away to a well-to-do family who can't have children and are happy to adopt, and keeps Mickey.

Despite the mother's attempts, the two boys meet first when they're 7, and, unaware that they are real brothers, decide to be blood brothers (hence the title) by cutting their hands and mixing the blood.

The boys grow up into very different young men: Eddie goes to university and has good prospects, Mickey isn't doing quite so well.

They get into a bitter feud over the same girl, and it ends with Mickey shooting Eddie before turning the gun on himself.

It's a straight play but there is also a very popular musical version.

HTH!

And it's by Willy Russell (of Educating Rita fame)

Has a narrator figure which means although it is essentially a soap-opera plot, the style of performance is more non-naturalistic...

im friendly with the guy who played eddie (the posh twin) in the westend until last year

hes not 'eddie' anymore tho! hes acting else where

its FAB.... Ive seen it 3 times in the west end!

cazza6 · 13/03/2007 22:36

it's fantastic - the music is great - I don't think Willy Russell had even written a note or a lyric before and he just pulled it off tremendously - you should go and see it

Just to let you know. He went yesterday and LOVED it. I think it helped that only 16 went and he was the only year 10 (the rest were year 11) He was very impressed with the play and the theatre.
Was shocked to hear about the content though
