Getting a bit cross and upset about our house sale. Need some mumsnet love

I'm needing a bit of indulgence here..
we accepted an offer on our house at the end of Nov and had one accepeted on a house to buy the next day.
So far the following things have happend

1, Our original solicitors didn't bother to open a file for us and we only discovered this in January.
2, We swapped solicitors and things seem much better.
3 Everything is still taking a long time and our buyer has only just had some vital searches done.
4, Our buyer's mortgage offer ran out
5, We discover he has also spent his deposit he's a developer and is now remortgageing another property to get it back.
6, the people we are buying off and others in the chain are starting to get cross. especially as a house on their street has sold for £30,000 more than we are offering them. they are now saying if we don't exchange soon - by the end of the week (they will accept our original offer) then they are going to put the property back in the market. We cannot afford this price if we were to lose the sale.
7, The people above us have broken the chain they are so fed up of it all.

We really need this sale as our house is / was difficult to sell (we had over 50 viewings)due to the bathroom being off one of the bedrooms,

Oh yes I had a baby 4 weeks ago too

Peachy, sympathy, moving house is horrible. Ignore their 30k rant, the other house will be different - bigger, bigger garden, better state of repair, drive, garage, etc. etc. etc. Everyone in a chain gets fed up.

House selling sucks, we're going through an dfingers crossed should be moving next week. I'm afraid you need to be on the phone EVERY day to both solicitors and estate agent. Just keep nagging, if they say they will call you back at a certain time and don't phone them straight away.

Don't be worried about bothering them you are paying them alot of money to work on your behalf. Make it clear to the agent you will put it on with someone else if you lose your sale and the house you want to buy.

It's such a stressfull time and with a baby too, bless you

Oh Peachygirl, you have my sympathies too

After a year on the market we are 'supposedly' moving on Thursday - only problem being that we are having to exchange and complete on the same day due to the first time byers at the beginning of the chain only having an £800 deposit

Everything feels so uncertain and I'm dreading loading the van up and waiting for the phone to ring to confirm that it's all gone ok.

I hope things get sorted for you soon

Sympathy from me too

we put our house up when dd1 was 4 mths old - Jan 2005

Had offer in Feb and was close to exchange the our buyer said the survey report showed we had a crack on the chimney stack and there was a gas leak. I was really shocked the surveyor never mentioned the smell of gas - we could have died!

but it was all fiction, the woman was mad, we didn't even have a chimney! it was then that the estate agent told us she had been trouble from the start. and the survey was fine

we gave up selling after 6 months

and are now thinking of biting the bullet and trying again

nothing to do with the house but baby Peachy is now viewable
