My Mum has done this recently within the UK - she and my stepdad sold a house in Bristol, moved to Fort William and have opened a luxury B&B (got a 4 star rating its first year) and have no regrets at all. It has been financially tight for the first couple of years but it is now doing really well, though it is very very hard work for them, but they are SO HAPPY! If it is your dream, I'd say go for it, because you will regret it forever if you don't.
