It's dp's 40th birthday coming up and he's always wanted a copy of some french film he remembers seeing round about the early eighties on tv, it was vv funny apparently about a bloke driving through France with a dead body in his boot, picking up a female hitchhiker, being followed by various people including his jealous wife and possibly some gangsters...I know this is an extremely long shot but I've spent all day going through French film websites to no avail, are there any movie buffs or french mners who recognise this at all? He just remembers it as the funniest film he's ever seen and I would love to find it for him.

Thanks gglimpopo! I know I sound mental, and I cant' even describe it very well because I've never seen it, but it's apparently a fantasic farce. If I ever find it, it'll probably be nowhere near as good as he remembers.

I have a memory of this very far back in my head (sorry that makes no sense - recesses of my brain is what I meant) & I think it has Gerald Depardieu in it. However, I can't remember anything else so am not really much help. I've been googling with no success but will try harder tomorrow!

OK, what the hell was I thinking of then???

coppertop · 28/06/2004 22:34

There was a Gerard Depardieu one too apparently. It was called "Bon Voyage". This is the one that dh remembers too.

Thank you Coppertop (& DH), glad I'm not losing it completely. Will now stop hi-jacking this thread with my ramblings.

I honestly NEVER thought i'd find it - I've looked at literally hundreds on webites all day.
I LOVE mumsnet!
I'll get the Gerard D one too, cos I think he's gorgeous. And just btw, we saw one last night called "Diner des Cons" which was hilarious.
