Well, my sil is house sharing with 7 other people. there is 1 room spare on the ground floor which used to be her room and is technicaly still hers as it says that on her contract. (she moved upstairs a couple of days ago to a bigger room) Anyway they are a bunch of teenagers and keep coming and going. One of these kids is a friend of a friend of my one of the others that live there. Friend visited and stole bunch of keys. My dh has changed lock on the front door, broken the lock on the bedroom door and locked the windows. Today one of them tried to climb up the drain pipe to the 1st floor to climb through window.

Anyway.. Police have been involved, they cant do anything and every suggestion we give is a 'grey area' Apparently they can leave the room, then actually break in through the window to get back in!
The squaters went to the police reporting the people that pay rent to be there cos they were trying to knock the room door down!

Cant be right can it??

are they taking a room in an occupied dwelling?

don't think thats squatting as such, more breaking and entering

was useless at land law though, hopefully someone will come along who knows what they are talking about

They are taking over 1 bedroom in a house where 7 other people share. So they all have a room each and share kitchen, bathroom etc...
Police say it is squating (again, grey area!) What on earth do we pay so much tax for?!! British laws are pathetic!

Anyone with any experience of this or any coppers out there that can advise??

My dh and his brother have gone over there tonight to 'protect' their sis tonight. awwww.
At least I get to choose what I watch on telly tonight! he,he
