Hi everyone, I'm Kelly and new to mumsnet. I was wondering if anyone has had asked this. How does my partner go about adopting my son as his biological father died in 2007 (my son was 16 months old when this happened).
Any advice from anyone is gratefully received.

Contact your local social services department in writing stating your request for stepparent adoption. Your husband ( you need to be married) will be assessed in the same way as he would be if he was adopting a child from the care system.
Court costs are involved but they are not very high.

Sorry it appears you no longer need to be married.
