"Thomassss" is from Tom & Jerry?

HerRoyalFattyness · 07/01/2017 10:18

Look at the wax I just pulled out of the babies ear! ShockShockShock

We used to have a cat that was a great rat hunter. The trouble was that he found them outdoors and felt he had to bring them in to show us his catch. There are few things worse than opening your bedroom door in the morning and finding a dead rat just outside.

Except maybe finding a live one. I'd be wibbling a whole lot at that.

mrsBeverleygoldberg · 07/01/2017 10:21

Herroyal one week of nuggets and fish fingers will make no difference in the whole year of food. My dcs would be thrilled. I know that's not the point as their dad should put them first. But I don't want you to feel bad about something you can't control. I can't believe that a 'father' would think an Xbox is more important than their dcs. Thank goodness they have you.Flowers

Fid - do you know anyone near with a terrier - a Jack Russell or something along those lines that you can invite round . - They live to catch rats ....

Allalonenow · 07/01/2017 10:24

Ooh Fid! that would give me the heebie jeebies! There must be a village rat catcher who will come and rescue you?

bookbook · 07/01/2017 10:25

I had a hunter cat too Megatherium - I think he thought they were wonderful presents 'just for me'. Worst one was when he dragged a live baby starling through the catflap into my kitchen . It was horrendous...

bookbook · 07/01/2017 10:27

btw HRF - one of my favourite comfort foods is fish finger sandwiches ! nothing wrong there at all - good balance of protein to carb !

whitehandledkitchenknife · 07/01/2017 10:28

Pied Piper? is he in the Yellow Pages?

whitehandledkitchenknife · 07/01/2017 10:31

We have rabbits pulled through the cat flap here. Lord alone knows how huntress does it. Some are bigger than her.

BathshebaDarkstone · 07/01/2017 10:33

Fatty I was going to say apply for a school clothing grant, but of course they only get that from reception. I have a family coach, I'll ask her if she knows of a charity you can apply to. Look out for school uniform product tests on here too, DD's still wearing the skirt we tested. Smile

Allalonenow · 07/01/2017 10:40

Pied Piper? Well Fid must know plenty of musicians! Xmas Grin

MadisonAvenue · 07/01/2017 10:43

book fish finger sandwiches are one of the best. Went to a rather nice seaside restaurant for lunch once and ordered them off the menu there. The in laws hadn't heard of fish finger sandwiches before and thought my lunch both disgusting and hilarious. WTF is wrong with some people? Freaks!

Fiderer · 07/01/2017 10:44

Allalone no village rat catcher but I do have a village hunter Hmm Whom I had to call about the wild boar. Bloody useless he was too.

I'll be on here tomorrow night whinging about having no clean clothes for work. The Fidlets can fend for themselves

Mind just leave the country.

OhTheRoses · 07/01/2017 10:46

Muses from my drive up to town this morning. Now ensconced at hairdresser.

Muse one, thoughts of the chitty chitty baby bang child catcher turning into a catcher of ex h's rounding them up with the lure of pole dancers instead of sweeties and taking tem to hard labour caves and handing their assets and future labour money to their wronged partners.

Muse two: Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water was played which I think I a masterpiece for the phalanx.

Muse three DH is running DS back to uni today and flying to the US tomorrow for the week so next week will be quiet and lonely although lovely with just me and dd and the house will get tidier

Fiderer · 07/01/2017 10:49

*Mind ?

*Might

iklboo · 07/01/2017 10:52

Fatty - DS had fish fingers for his tea last night & declared them 'meal of the week'. I bloody love them on a butty with a gallon of vinegar & cracked sea salt.

If you give your DCs burgers maybe make them a 'beef burger sun'? My mum used to make them for me when I was little (and money was tight).

Beef burger in the middle of the plate, chips arranged round the outside as 'rays'. Tinned spaghetti 'hair' and a face made out of cucumber & tomato.

Looks great fun & the little ones won't notice it's not their normal food and think it's a treat.

bookbook · 07/01/2017 10:55
  • where is this restaurant ? :) OhTheRoses - - Simon and Garfunkel are one of my utmost favourites - I have all their records ( old enough for them to be all vinyl .....) I sooo wanted to put Bridge on the playlist, but I had already offered up one .
Mummylin · 07/01/2017 11:03

That's the answer Fid get yourself a flute and play a tune as you go around the house, then lead them all out into the street, far far away 😀

Fiderer · 07/01/2017 11:07

I joke with my 3 about living on potatoes but they were the mainstay of what we ate for a while. Bits of garlic or bacon or cheese added.

They also loved the food faces/patterns. And look back fondly

Mummylin · 07/01/2017 11:09

Sorry last post about Ratty !!

Fatty a small piece of gammon for a fiver goes a long way. Chopped up and spread over a layer of suet, rolle and steamed for two hours is delish with parsley sauce and carrots, another piece chopped and used in a creamy cheesy sauce with pasta, the rest used in soup, don't know if your dc will eat pea and ham but works well as a base for a cheap and cheerful minestrone. Mine still say egg and chips is an all time favourite.

Fiderer · 07/01/2017 11:16

Grin Mummylin

Am counting on you lot to steel me to venture downstairs. And be brave at the pharmacy while I order rat poison without being arrested like in an Agatha Christie novel.

OhTheRoses · 07/01/2017 11:19

Years ago before food banks a vicar friend of mine had lists for harvest festival donations so he could put together a survival box for a small family: Bag of pasta, sauce, some tinned veg, tinned fruit, custard, tea bags, cereal and he'd bung in half a loaf, milk and butter pats from central supplies. It helped when there was less money than week.

OhTheRoses · 07/01/2017 11:24

Can you wear wellies fid shut the door where it is to contain it.

If I close my eyes I can still smell poisoned rat stench from under the floorboards. It lasts for three weeks after four days we caved and had the wooden floor and boards lifted to get rid. They couldn't find it; so started clearing the cupboard under the sink where I kept my plastic bags in an ancient gold gift bag which was a little too heavy when lifted. Blush
