I brought a rare statue/figuirine off ebay that I have been looking for months to get my dp for his birthday which is next month!! Stupid me decided to break the damn thing this morning when i received it, of course not intentionally. It's only a little piece and it's not that noticeable except to me because I know Ive broken that bit off. I dont know what to do now. Do I:

  1. give it to him still and just apologise if he notices/or tell him that I broke a little part off?

  2. get him something else and try to find a replacement for another occasion?

  3. try supergluing the part back on and pray that it works!!?

As I brought it off ebay, I cant return it or get another one, so at the moment Im stuck. It's really rare and Ive only ever seen a couple of them for sale on ebay before, and they dont usually ship to UK when they are for sale

oh tammybear, you twit !!!
If you really think he won't notice I'd probably go ahead and give it. You can always say you hadn't noticed. You can only do this if you can lie without blushing ???

I'd try and get some appropriate glue (superglue may not be the best for china, not sure) and stick the bit back on. It probably will hardly show. If he notices you'll have to own up though.

misdee · 16/06/2004 15:37

what is it?

emmatmg · 16/06/2004 16:25

tell him it got broke in the post and let him repair it.

Branster · 16/06/2004 21:15

give to him as it is without saying anything and look for a professional repairer and get it fixed later. if it is so rare it's probably best to have a specialist job. imagine in 20 years time dp goes to have it valued somwhere and finds it's worthless!! however, if he does ask admit to it and it'll be fine.
