Well as I won the last game fairly and squarely Grin despite not being as quick as the old lags....I will start another game.

Come off it Maudl - you chose the date and time because of the Navy being there. It was I who said we'd have more fun if we waited a week and met on Rome during Vatican 2 but you were not to be persuaded and I leave it to all who saw you and the maire-adjoint^ that night on the Canebiere to say why.

If you think Wallingford is dull you haven't been there when the Council Library Committee and the Methodist Circuit hold their annual Joint Dinner and Sack Race. Joint indeed!

Ryde

MaudAndOtherPoems · 30/07/2017 02:00

Hmm. I've always found it very difficult to get a decent game of MC anywhere on the Methodist circuit. Rumour has it that it was just taking off there when Wesley found himself in nidd for playing Slough of Despond on the sabbath and that, as they say, was that.

Some of our chums here get anxious if we're outside the metropolis for too long and so, to calm their nerves, I offer

Sloane Square

ForalltheSaints · 30/07/2017 15:02

No joy whilst in Scotland in finding a game of MC to join in. Strange looks when I asked at the hotel I was in. No-one seems to be there from the programme that occasionally has a game of games in the event they call the Fringe. Mind you, perhaps this is reasonable as playing a game of MC should never be seen as a fringe activity.

I was surprised at the move to Sloane Square until I remembered that there are so called improvement works on the District line. So the bus replacement rule will have been used. Which gets me out of a hole here, and I move to Blackfriars

Scotland is not a place; it is a biscuit tin. Not yet ready for the higher forms of civilisation such as MC.

Right colour; wrong noun. Blackwater.

Amnesty on Nidd and let's have mercy on those poor souls who have been cheated of the right to learn Latin and Greek.

But I will stick with Corinium - known in these decadent days as Cirencester*

ForalltheSaints · 02/08/2017 18:58

Cirencester, a good use of the closed stations rule.

I claim mercy for my lack of knowledge of Roman and Greek, and am grateful that it is offered even though the papal year of mercy has ended. With it I move to Bourne End

IrenetheQuaint · 02/08/2017 19:19

I was just on the point of breaking out my Old Church Slavonic, dammit! And there are fascinating indications in the latest analysis of Linear B of a proto-MC game based around Cretan settlements...

But hey. I shall stick with the closed stations and glissade elegantly to

Midsomer Norton

MaudAndOtherPoems · 03/08/2017 00:14

There are some challenging moves suggested in the Klingon translation of the Great Compendium of MC Moves and Strategies, but I fear you're right and we should confine ourselves to English (or something approximating it) for a while.
