Somewhere near Aberystwyth in mid-Wales - lovely, I would move there in a short. In fact we might when we retire...

If you want rural rather than the town proper, there are loads of lovely villages, hamlets and just plain isolated houses nearby!

down on the peninsula in north wales, beautiful down there and very rural, criccieth are
or anglesey.

SpaceCadet · 12/02/2007 14:45

that should have read, criccieth area..or try the mother of wales..anglesey

lot of wales is rural

so whichever coast takes your fancy really, except cardiff/newport area. But even then-you have the mumbles just to the left.

what about pembrokeshire?

Fillyjonk · 12/02/2007 14:51

my favourite bits are the rhondda (not coastal), snowdonia (ditto really) and carmarthanshire (oh. ditto. sorry)

aberwystyth is lovely too

anywhere the river teifi goes also a good bet

hey its all good

Llyn peninsular or Pembrokeshire.

Especially Tenby ;)

I'd go for the Gower peninsula, south Wales.

On the Pembrokeshire coastal path-Broadhaven-amazing beach-ditto for Newgale.

Loads of places around the coast near Havefordwest.

ooooooooh thanks guys. Gonna look at some of these on Your Move right now........getting sick of the congestion in the South, and it's only going to get worse, 800 houses being built in our town over next few years as Army move out....and as my husband wants to move to Oz and I don't, I thought Wales might be a compromise....

Loads of lovely places to choose but definitely learn Welsh before you go if you head Aberystwyth way as it will make your life and any job hunting much easier. And it is the national language!

The area around Aberystwyth is nice- NewQuay is gorgeous- the dolphin coast. And then you have Aber for the times you want a bit more commerciality (is that a word? lol)

Its also relatively cheap, or so we find (although not in Aber- in Caerleon- still posh-ish in our part) compared to Somerset prices anyway.

Also love pembrokeshire- or little england as its known- Tenby not really very rural (great uncle lives right on harbour ) but some lovely parts, I like Pembroke itself

Actually I love Caldey island- I'd shift there any time! Loads of call for RE grads I would guess, but as DH says his haulage skills not in demand there LOL!
