Our home insurance provider has been bought out. The annual buildings cover has gone up 50%. Would ayone recommend their company?
Contents will also be due soon, may combine the 2

Prudential - were the cheapest for our inner-city area. But it all depends....

we're Prudential too but only contents.

Was with More Than and they put their premiums up by about 30%, so moved to Tescos and have already used their Legal Advice line. Very impressed so far. Very good price and very efficient at sending out the policy documentation etc.

I have combined Buildings and Contents Insurance from Direct Line. Never had a problem with them.

I am in the process of making my 1st claim and they have been fantastic. A radiator had been leaking for ages in my living room, I hadn't noticed as it was behind my heavy living room curtains. By the time we noticed the carpet had started to go mouldy! I phoned their claims line and explained. The guy said " We can't fix the radiator as it's wear & tear, but we can fix the carpet". It was left at that and he said someone would contact me in the next few days.

The next day a Carpet store called and said they were to come around and measure our living room for a brand new carpet!!!! And that was that.

It was horrible old carpet that was there when we moved in, now we're getting a brand new one fitted for £50 (excess). So I thoroughly recommend them!

Thanks for your comments
Galaxy - hear what you are saying about variations just wanted to have a few names to start rather than work my way thru Yellow Pages

Hadn't thought about Tescos

Toothache - Direct Line do our car so have called them. Glad to hear you're pleased. Hope you like the new carpet! They want to come and do a security review for the contents! Wonder what that entails!!

Esure are fab.We had only been with them a few months when our washing machine flooded the whole ground floor. They got someone out to dry us out the same day & the carpets were all cleaned within the week.I have never had to claim on household insurance before & misunderstood what the carpet guy said & thought we would have to pay another excess to replace the kitchen lino & decide to just live with it.

Esure rang me today to say that they hadn't recieved a quote to replace the kitchen floor & I explained why. They told me that there was no extra excess & to get a quote & they would sort out everything else. They were really nice & helpful & now I get a new kitchen floor.Great!
