Boy/girl hair parting

It used to be that there was a girl side and boy side to part hair - same side as button fastenings for boys/girls.

Do you still adhere or do you just part whichever side you fancy?

Mine's on the girly side as it should be

what's the girly side? mine is on my left

NadineBaggott · 09/02/2007 15:31

I'm not too hot on left and right

same way you fasten your buttons?

OP posts:
Oati · 09/02/2007 15:34

I wouldn't even know which is which

NadineBaggott · 09/02/2007 15:36

do I have to shout

THE SAME SIDE YOU FASTEN YOUR BUTTONS

OP posts:
Oati · 09/02/2007 15:38

my buttons are in the middle

Nemo2007 · 09/02/2007 15:40

lmao
DDs hair naturslly leans in the opposite way to her buttons..should I be concerned

NadineBaggott · 09/02/2007 15:41

they may be in the middle Oati but one side will flap over the other no?

boys flap left to right
girls right to left

I think

OP posts:
Oati · 09/02/2007 15:42

with you so far, Nadine - so where does the parting go?

Biglips · 09/02/2007 15:43

my dd hadnt got a parting!! is that shocking??

NadineBaggott · 09/02/2007 15:45

well it either flaps to the left or the right

girls to the left
boys to the right

of course you could have a middle parting I don't quite know what that means?

OP posts:
Oati · 09/02/2007 15:46

seems like anything goes

NadineBaggott · 09/02/2007 15:48

most of those are to the left though

mums always used to make a point of parting on the 'right' (as in correct) side

I can't see the word flaps now without thinking of marthamoo's DH and his kernels of flap

Oati · 09/02/2007 15:54

maybe I'm confused because I had a parting on both sides and the middle section tied in a bow on the top of my head

Oati · 09/02/2007 15:56

see these - mine was like that [cringe]

JanH · 09/02/2007 15:57

Glad you used the past tense there, Oati dear.

NadineBaggott · 09/02/2007 15:57

are you the one with the shiny black nose

what's with the baby bow???

OP posts:
JanH · 09/02/2007 15:58

Do you think the baby bow is attached with a drawing pin?

Oati · 09/02/2007 15:58

safety pin Jan - waht were you thinking

southeastastra · 09/02/2007 15:59

haha the poor baby! it must be stuck on with double sided tape

NadineBaggott · 09/02/2007 16:00

ouch!
Why do people do that?
I think it looks daft

My dads mum used to send him to school with a hair grip in force his hair over the boys way. He reckoned the lane to school was littered with discarded kirby grips . It worked though.

I never knew about this before he told me that story, but if you look at pictures of men particulary in the 50's or 60's they all had partings on the same side.

MrsBadger · 09/02/2007 16:25

I've honestly never heard of this - some people's hair naturally parts one way and some the other.

My hair naturally has a centre parting in a Wednesday Adams fashion so it's never worried me at all.

marthamoo · 09/02/2007 16:32

Pmsl @ oati (is that iota?) and "my buttons are in the middle"

Janh, I'm so glad you were amused by my husband's flaps - I'll tell him when he gets home from work.

marthamoo · 09/02/2007 16:33

My parting is on the right...am I really a man?
