Hi, I live in Epping and love it. I dont know what your idea of too pricey is but I think it is quite expensive. However, I would rather have a smaller house and live somewhere really nice. It is on the central line too.

The only other place I really know is Harlow. It has good parts and bad parts. It gets bad press but certain areas like Old Harlow or Church Langley are really nice. It has 2 train stations going to London, and is currently having the town centre done up.

there is a thread on meetups I think for Essex mums so maybe hop over and pick their brains if you dont get much response to this.

DF moved from Loughton to Coggleshall/Kelvedon. They love it, there is a station at Kelvedon that goes to Stratford and Liverpool St. You get more for your money there than Loughton. Although Loughton is great too

Hi there,

I live in Witham (45 mins on train from L.St). There are several trains an hour that run to London and it is also close to Chelmsford and Colchester. Houses are fairly cheap here in comparrison to other areas in Essex and there is a good mix of cheaper ex council houses and private. Please let me know if you need any more info.
