Do you find 'young people' less annoying as yours grow into them?

Right now I'm at the stage where I'm nearer 40 than 30, and I have never found yapping twentysomethings more irritating. The town seems to be FULL of them - all these people suddenly yakking their opinions in public and moaning about their landlords and their crappy jobs (or, worse, their great jobs) when they were safely in school a few years ago and I didn't have to listen to them. "And I'm like, hello? and he's like, did you look at my MySpace? And I'm like, I'm on, like, Facebook? " I don't understand half the stuff they witter on about.

My DCs are 4 and 7 right now - so, in 13 or so years' time when it'll be my own offspring being the "annoying young people", will I be smilingly tolerant of them - and tutting at the short-tempered grumpy old 30somethings who find them irritating?

I know exactly what you mean - my DD is nearly 16 and not only does she talk a different language I have to stop myself from saying
"You have got it so much easier that I had"
and
In my day we never............

Generation gap I suppose and the fact that we are turning into old fogies

I actually like teenagers. Well most of them anyway. Most of them are quite sweet. I see them in work, starting to get all grown up, they fall in love with each other and split up and get all upset. Makes me feel all maternal!
