More hours in the day or more money - which would you prefer?

At a talk last week the speaker mentioned some survey where mothers where asked what was on their wishlist, and apparently "more hours in the day" came out top.
I personally would prefer to have more money, on the basis that I could then afford not to have to do all the stuff I do currently (work long hours, laundry, ironing, grocery shopping etc) because I could pay someone else to do them, thus giving me more quality time with the DCs, my DH, and, maybe even some time to myself!
Wondering what anyone else thinks?

more hours in the day please

money can't buy sleep

I would prefer more money. I think tasks/work etc expand to fill the time so that no matter how much extra you get it won't be enough. But OTOH I am a SAHM with one ds in school full time and one at home with me and I don't have a problem with time, in terms of getting things done. It must be different for working parents who have to slot household stuff into a more limited time.

Imafairy · 01/02/2007 13:26

but AntEater - I am a WOHM and would definitely opt for the money!

in particular i'd like the hour when ds naps to miraculously stretch to 3, so i can have an hour for jobs, and hour for MN and an hour to nap

fizzbuzz · 01/02/2007 13:41

I think I would like more money, BUT to need much much less sleep. Therefore I would gain more hours.

Am v jealous of people who only need 4 or 5 hours sleep. They must have so much time to spare!

IdrisTheDragon · 01/02/2007 13:42

I'd like more money at the moment

Imafairy · 01/02/2007 14:52

anyone else?

(I thought this would get lots of interest, but yet again I was wrong )

more hours.

throckenholt · 01/02/2007 14:58

some of each please

If I had to choose it would be time - so that I would have time to sleep enough.

fennel · 01/02/2007 15:01

but Imafairy, if your money is to enable you to buy time, aren't you really opting for time?

I would choose more energy, I have spare time, several hours every evening for a start, but no energy to really do things in it.

err now let me think... MONEY.

Biglips · 01/02/2007 15:05

more money..

Bozza · 01/02/2007 15:12

Money is more flexible than time - you can use it buy in labour or for other things.

Imafairy · 01/02/2007 15:18

But Fennel, I don't do the things I do because I want to do them, I do them because I have to. More hours in the day would still mean I'd have to do them, whereas money would mean I could outsource them.
