Moving to Peterborough at the end of February, but won't know any mums and babies. Can anyone recommend a friendly mums and babies group that might be suitable for me and ds (9months)? Thanks

Hi, I can't really recommend any groups as the one I went to wasn't that brilliant - it was in Orton Longueville - but I can say that I really enjoyed my time living in Peterborough and hope that you do too.

Whereabouts will you be living?

deaconblue · 29/01/2007 20:49

We're going up this weekend to look at some rental properties in Eye, Yaxley and the British Sugar site. This house will only be temporary though so wouldn't mind going along to a nice group anywhere in the area.

I don't really know those areas very well so I'm not much use to you.

I think the netmums site might be able to help. I haven't used it myself but it's apparently good for local info.

Thank you for trying.

Thank you. That's a good idea, he would love tumble tots and loves watching big kids play as well. I'll have a look at their website

Activity World is great and it's fairly cheap too.

I lived in Crowland until 2 yrs ago (5 miles from Eye). The Abbey 345 playgroup had a really good mums & tots group on a Tuesday morning. They used to meet in a portacabin next to St Guthlac's school. HTH.

deaconblue · 31/01/2007 17:05

Thank you Mary. Crowland is one of the places on our possibles list. Did you enjoy it there?

We loved Crowland. Its a typical small market town. The only reason we moved is because of my DH's job.

The Abbey 345 playgroup is very good. The primary school is very good. The secondary school, not so good, but they still have the 11+ in Lincolnshire, and the 2 grammar schools in Spalding 10 miles away are excellent.

Its easy enough to get into Peterborough from there, and Spalding has a good Morrisons and a retail outlet centre.

If you want any more details about it, let us know what you're into. I think its preferable to Eye. There's a big rubbish tip at Eye, which means it can smell a bit if the wind is in the wrong direction!
