Man went up behind a woman (on a night out) who is not his wife and did very quick sort of tickle on the small of her back. Her husband was there too but not there when I saw this.

Your thoughts? I can't elaborate too much.

Hard to say without having seen it! They could be really good friends who are quite tactile. I'm very tactile and will hug and touch the backs of men/women I know and like - and who I know are also tactile! Doesn't necessarily mean anything's going on at all.

SturdyAngel · 28/01/2007 10:48

What did the woman do? Did she react to it? laugh or just ignore it?

Carmenere · 28/01/2007 10:50

It sounds kind of intimate, how did woman react(was it you?)

SecondhandRose · 28/01/2007 10:50

No she just stood there, it was a social occasion, lots of friends about and he came up behind her and did this sort of tickle.

Oww I feel like Miss Marple.

Hmm, it seems odd, but they could just be v good friends.

SecondhandRose · 28/01/2007 10:51

No, it wasn't me (alas). There have been rumours about this couple but last night was the first piece of real evidence (in my mind anyway) but just wondered what others thought.

What am I saying, they are not a couple, they are both married, you know what I mean!

OP posts:
Carmenere · 28/01/2007 10:55

Well yes it does sound intimate, ask cod, she is the resident expert in marriage breakdown around here.

nogoes · 28/01/2007 10:57

I would not think there was anything odd going on. I am not a tactile person so I would not like someone to this to me but I have been out when dh's mates have done this to me because they are quite tactile people iyswim. There is also one dad at m&t group who does this to everyone personally I find it an invasion of my personal space but some people are just very tactile.

kittylette · 28/01/2007 10:58

my thoughts would be ... as long as it wasnt your husband why would you care??

LIZS · 28/01/2007 11:03

If she seemd comfotable with it then does sounds suspicious. Someone put their hand on my back at a class parents' get together, which felt odd and I'm sure I reacted accordingly so if she didn't they are probably very familiar. Not that it should really be any concern of yours.

WideWebWitch · 28/01/2007 11:14

suspicious I'd say. There's a bit in that film with Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman, (can't remember the film) where she packs to leave him and when he asks why she says something like 'you handed her a drink and she didn't even acknowledge it, you have to know someone very well indeed to do that, I know you're having an affair' or words to that effect. I think if you see something and it strikes a note of something then v often your instincts will be right. They're shagging, mark my words.

Bucketsofdynomite · 28/01/2007 11:28

I would enjoy the fun of the secret spying game but keep it to myself (except on Mumsnet of course.)
If you catch more evidence you could always have a word, something on the lines of "FFS, if you're going to be rude enough to cheat on your partner you could at least have the manners to be a bit more discreet so others don't get dragged into the deceit just by having their eyes open."

SecondhandRose · 28/01/2007 14:08

Mmmmmm, will keep my ear to the ground.

www, that film I think was the tall guy with jeff goldblum and emma thompson, where she's a nurse? That scene always, always stayed in my mind and actually it was because of it that I realised that my bloke at the time had been seeing a friend of mine....

WideWebWitch · 04/03/2007 20:19

crystalpony, you're right, it was Jeff Goldblum, not Alan Rickman. SHR, did you ever find out?

WideWebWitch · 04/03/2007 20:20

and wow that the scene made you realise re your bloke.

crystalpony · 04/03/2007 20:21

I never forgot it because it was so well-observed and as it turned out later (for me anyway) true!
