So, did Derren Brown's Seance spook anyone then???

Must admit loved watching this. Worked out pretty quickly though that it could only have been Jane that they'd pick. And picking students who were 'open-minded' about spiritualism suggested students who want to believe to me.

DH is on nights so there was NO WAY I would have watched it. Whether it was staged or not.

This sort of thing frightens the life out of me so I went to bed when I saw it was about to start.

i taped it and if you watch it back, whichever picture you choose to start with, you always end up coming to jane anyway. i tried it with all of them. was still pretty spooky though. did anyone else think she was a nurse before they said? i did. who was the girl at the end as well anyway? or am i being thick?

i loved it too tinker and i did write down manchester,when they said jane came from manchester i nearly s**t myself,lol,i was watching it on my own and i could hear noises,it happened to be our noisy hamsters but i was on edge watching it

I have seen Derren Brown before and knew that the people he mentioned were fake or alive...
No surprises, althugh DH shat himself when the cup moved on the seance table!

ok...... a complete set up. was shitting myself to start but ive watch the tape again and now i know it is a set up.....after all what does derren brown do the best?.........tricks of the mind

Fantastic viewing! I started watching it from halfway through, so didn't realise it was an illusion. I did clock on pretty quick though. Still it was hilarious to see them all cacking themselves LOL.

Would loved it if they had shown us their faces when 'Jane' walked in!!!! Why didn't he show it??

I was saying I wish we'd taped it to check about the photos but I was pretty sure they'd be laid out in such a way that they'd only come back to her.

I thought Jane looked like Tracy Barlow - Manchester link, suggestion again. But how did the stuff move? Assume that was all strings etc?

Well, I never faniced Derren Brown until Jasper once said she did - now I can see it. The power of suggestion and all that

i checked it with every single photo this morning and it ALWAYS came back to Jane. Did anyone else guess about her being a nurse though? i did. probably cos they were in a hospital? i dont know

Oh and the Nicholas Gadd incident with the bleach - I think I would have head about that if it were true so knew that none of the photos were of dead people. Think some of the blokes sussed it out though, not picking Jane.

I mean also how likely was it that all the relatives of all those "dead" people would be happy with them doing this on tv ffs with photos and details etc??
that was the most surreal point...
I wonder if the girl was called Jane Dowie and how Holly knew those facts though..... Still interesting and thought provoking, if you can get past DB himself that is...
I swear I am getting obsessed with that man...
DH is so NOT impressed!

he does the relatives bit on his stage show and says the parents are int he sudience - then says its alla load of bull

It was brilliant wasn't it.
Do you think the chap who went it the spiritualist cabinet and broke free from his straps was a plant?
Noitice we weren't shown the CCTV footage from that. And I think Sally who went in to the G7 room by herself must have been a plant too, she was highly pretty and just right to be on camera so much. Not that I'm jealous in any way.
It was great entertainment.

one of my dd2s friends was one of the students. I thought straightaway that it must be set up for everyone to pick Jane and also wondered why no cctv of the student breaking his restraints. Thought it was a bit of a tv let down really but probably fun to have actually been there. The most impressive part is the hypnotism. I once took part in a seance as a student where the glass did definitely move and was very freaky, but we were also "unfit" at the time which no doubt had an effect.

I think dh and I must be too cynical, we would never get picked for something like that! It didn't help that I saw someone on tv about 3 days earlier performing the same photo trick, but using famous singers. And wasn't the name Jane Dowie, a bit too similar to Jane Doe? I said to dh that the students only had his word the people in the pictures were dead, and that if this mass suicide had actually occured 30 years ago, it would have been v well publicised. Particularly liked the touch of getting them to dress up in winter clothes, to give an atmosphere of cold/spookiness. V clever to film in a disused building so it would be chilly.

Would love to have a chat with Derren Brown, I bet he's fascinating. Imagine how you could use those powers of manipulation to get whatever you wanted!
