Now we are moving to an address with superfast CABLE I am v v v excited at joining the 21st century and having proper modern telly with one of these box thingimagigs that you can pause and series-record on and all manner of exciting stuff that I have been unable to have before...

But therefore I am utterly clueless about it all and could really do with some basic pointers about who has the best box etc.

I went with BT vision - and I have sky (we used to use sky for broadband too but they couldn't help at the new house) .....so as a family we can basically watch what we want when we want - BT will always provide the Line to the house ....... So your broadband speed is dependant on what they are providing..... Weirdly however SKY could not get fast broadband down the cable - whereas other providers could.

We went with sky as they gave us a free to and free movies and everything else at 50% .... Seemed a bargain .......

Not sure if that helps or not - all I know is haggle and play each other off on each other .... They all want your business so will give you a good deal .........

Madame, very pleased that you're moving at last. So exciting!!

We've always been with Virgin Media, so I can't say whether they're better or worse than anyone else. We have a package that provides phone, TV and broadband. The only negative as far as I'm concerned is that they don't provide Sky Atlantic, which means I miss out on some of the good dramas such as GoT, but we have Sky Movies and all the Sky Sports channels for DH.

We also have a Tivo Box for recording, pausing etc. You can also watch or record programmes when you're out using the TV Anywhere app on phone or tablet, and you can put Santi on your wishlist ( and ) so it will record any programmes he's in.

And as Tart says, always haggle. Good luck!

Badders I avoided The Hooligan Factory for ages, but it turned up on our above-mentioned Tivo box and I LOVED it. Tom is a great comedy actor. We fell apart laughing at it. I don't know what that says about our taste, but we enjoyed it.
