My day gets worse and worse...

Dd3 woke at 2.30am, came into our bed and threw up on my hair. Awake till it was time to get up, dd1 then ill, ds stomach cramps. On drive to school dd2's stomach starts making weird noises, so I take her home. Now have 4 kids with upset stomachs, dh just flown somewhere for work (forgot to ask where ) and dd2 still chucking up AND it's her 11 plus tomorrow. Have had 2.5 hours sleep since Sunday morning. Dh was ill on Sat but assumed it was airline food. Other possibility is that mil did it as she apparently gave them re-heated rice yesterday. The timing is just crap. Feel so frustrated for dd2 who tries so hard at school. Rant helped though!

I need to go to bed now, but just wanted to say a quick yet hearfelt

poor you!

brandy7 · 08/01/2007 23:29

oh god poor you

see how your dd is in the morning and ring the school if shes able to go in and warn them that she may have to leave the room and have a drink with her. or can they do the exam another day, not sure about that.

hope you get a bit of a better night tonight. hopefully its a 24hour bug, unless we blame the mil anyway

Pinkchampagne · 08/01/2007 23:29

Oh poor you! My boys had this tummy bug just before Christmas, but a couple of days apart. That was horrible enough - I can't imagine having 4 ill at the same time!
Big big sympathies

I think she can take it another day - if she's still up now she won't be at her best at 9am. Doctor's note I think. Dh's was only 24 hrs so I'm hoping!

Oh swedishmum, I am sorry. It's bad enough having to do the 11&divid; without having to do it at a different time to everyone else. I don't suppose they'd just say "OK, we'll assume she's passed" will they?!

My dd fell off in her riding lesson on Saturday, and to my shame my first thought was "Oh no - I hope she hasn't hurt herself, I couldn't bear it if her 11+ was postponed"!

swedishmum · 09/01/2007 08:22

Dd doing 11 plus is only sick one now. She fell asleep on the sofa in the end about midnight. Don't want to wake her just yet. I know it's hardly a crisis but it's so unfair for her. She was really worried last night. Poxy education system.

Is she giving it a go? Good luck to her if she does!

Remember to get a doctor's note just in case you need it to support an appeal. I do hope she's OK. My dd went into school today festooned in good luck charms - she was practically clanking as she walked!

I do so hate the system - it's so unfair for so much to depend on one day. What school is your dd hoping to go to?

swedishmum · 09/01/2007 10:01

Spoke to HT - she's going to doc this morning, have spoken to him and he'll write a note. HT said better not to go in as once she starts she won't get a second go, therefore will be kept from others and do it Thurs. Still throwing up from time to time and has stomach ache. I'll collect her straight after Maths/Eng tomorrow. Not that unusual apparently.
Sounds like your dd went off happily. Hope she does well. Dd is hoping to go to Highworth - her sister is there already.

Oh what a relief - someone told me yesterday that there was no opportunity to do it again if you couldn't do it on "the day" and I was so worried for you and your dd. I'm so glad it was a playground rumour!

She can flop in front of the telly for the day and recover without worrying. Good luck for later in the week.

santassackyackertyyack · 09/01/2007 11:40

poor you....hope they all feel better soon. We have been ill before with reheated rice!! Apparently it one of the worse things for food poisening!!!

CanSleepWellSometimes · 09/01/2007 11:54

lol at not knowing where dh has gone! Bit easier for me these days as it's usually the same place.

Prob the yukky vomitty bug that seems to have been going round for months now. Hope dd is brighter soon and good luck for her 11+.

Have you seen D's wedding photos btw? Had to grin at his attire .

Definitely, definitely avoid rice - it grows some horrible bacteria apparently. If you overcook it, just chuck it - it's not worth the risk! If you need to use cooked rice for a recipe, make sure you cook it on the same day and use it as soon as it's cool!

Hope all feeling better soon

Definitely, definitely avoid cooked rice - it grows some horrible bacteria apparently. If you cook too much, just chuck anything that's left over - it's not worth the risk! If you need to use cooked rice for a recipe, make sure you cook it on the same day and use it as soon as it's cool!

Sorry needed to edit post but thought original one wouldn't appear!

swedishmum · 09/01/2007 15:55

I'll ask dh to forward pics csws - could do with some cheering up. Bet the views are beautiful. Still forgot to ask dh where he is!
Off to docs again for note. I've got an interview for my first job in ages on Thurs so I hope to get some sleep before then. Am supposed to be eating really healthily but still an unopened box of Hotel Chocolat champagne truffles upstairs. I'm weakening...
Reheated rice was mil not me by the way!

So can I have a glass of wine? I know it's only Tuesday. Now have a medical note.

katelyle · 09/01/2007 18:58

Absolutely have a glass of wine - I'm having one! DD said that the verbal reasoning paper was much harder than she expected by the way and much harder than the practice papers she had done. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! Have two glasses of wine!
