This might be a special needs shout but then again maybe not.....

I want to make my own picture books for Lottie and have started them off with photos of family and friends but want to now include pictures of
'd is for dog', 'f is for fish' etc to help teach her words and sounds etc. I just find all the ones in shops either drawn badly or too busy with too many pictures per page.

Tried looking on ointernet today but no real joy with nice simple colour pics of stuff.

Does anyone have any great websites they go to for this kind of thing?

I am going to use the digital camera and take pics of our own car etc but also wanted some nice clear colur pics i can print off for things like lion and other things I don't have lying round the house!

Thanks, TC

Have you seen the Jolly phonics freeze frame thing in the ELC. I know its not the aphabet. Its all phonics based and their is an action to go with the letter sound as well (you can pick up a free leaflet in the ELC that gives you the actions). The pictures are drawn but are very clear and not busy, and its the phonic based programme used in most schools. I am wondering if having the sound that is commonly used in the english langauge would be easier for Lottie to learn as she will hear those sounds in everyday lanaguage, rather than confusing her with the names of the letters and the sound. C (as in sea) and cuh as in the start of cut are very different. Phonics is good for spelling and reading.

But you may think this is a rubbish idea - can you not find a cheep book and cut out good pictures or look through magazines/postcards etc for god pictures.

Thanks girls. Will rush off to ELC asap as that freeze frame sounds GREAT. Very good idea, thanks a lot.

Will also use mags and start going through them for pics, thanks again!

I thought I'd be able to go onto internet and just print off fab pics but just don't have the time or energy to trawl through.
