Is that good? Have no idea of house prices in Wales. (In London it would be an impossibility which is for 1st time buyers such as I) Anyway, hope it is a great price and means riches for your mum.

hairymclary · 02/01/2007 20:20

wish i could get a house for 65k. where are you???

StrawberrySnowflakes · 02/01/2007 20:31

its good..she bought it when my grandad was alive, him, her and bastard of her husband bought it when council were going to privateise..paid £6k for it and now having a wonderful mortgage with halifax, grandad passed away and father crawled under his rock, she now owes...£13K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..keeps getting letters telling her to payNOW, even though we go in month after month saying she can and agree an amount...so me and dp were going to get a loan out for her and pay it, do house up and sell 95% - 5%, but agents said no point as limit on that area is about £83..am so bloody chuffed, even though itll be me wholl be sorting it all out and ill be mega stressed, but to see her rid of that house, in nice small bunglaow or something with money in her pocket makes me want to cry!
need to now find out which hosuing acc will be able to help her..will fact she'll have money from sale help or hinder her???

Halifax are shitesters, as are Abbey National. wont go into it as its a really long story but now have mortgage with Yorkshire bank and they are much better

ScummyMummy · 02/01/2007 20:37

Oh good. (I'm sorry- I was getting you mixed up with SallyStrawberry who's Welsh!) That's lovely news. I think the money from the sale might make her eligible for things like shared ownership if she can't buy on the open market? Or was she thinking of renting?

StrawberrySnowflakes · 02/01/2007 20:42

shes hoping to rent as she really cant manage the 'upkeep' of her own home, so a trust house/housing ass is what were looking at unless we need to be out quicker which would them be private rent for a time(hopefully not)

were also in process of getting details of all her' excess charges' from halifax as she gets charged £35 everytime they send a letter telling her shes in arrears!(we know, we go in regulary to arange payments), so hoping she might get a little back from them

thing is as much as i love my estranged brother, i worry she thinks im like him and gunna bleed her dry when she sells, i genuinly want to see her sorted where as he wants a loan permanently
