Hi so my partner and our baby girl are considering moving to England for the better. We aren't exactly sure how we even start this process but also where is the best place in England to live ? Any advice suggestions are welcome thank you

Rather depends on your priorities - work, leisure, preference of town/city/rural etc - and housing budget. Have you visited before?

Have you got jobs? What do you do as that will narrow it down a bit, budget for house as well.

I don't have a job my wee girl is only 14 weeks and my partner lost his job on Christmas Eve so he is planning on finding a job before we would be able to move. I don't like city life that's for sure and TBH only place I have ever visited is London x

Depends what kind of job he'll be looking for, and what kind of accommodation you'll want. Private rental sector?

Where are you in NI? Would you like somewhere similar?
What about budget? I'd love to live in some places in England but can't afford it.
Is your partners work something you can find anywhere like teaching? Or more specific?
I love NI and visit every year, but it is a little out in the sticks for me and too wet!

We're in Belfast at the minute I just don't like living here although I always have. We don't want London or any kind of city life. We would be looking private rented and our budget would be tight but we would like a decent enough quiet area basically the polar opposite of belfast. Our current rent is 550 a month and would probably afford a 100 or so extra a month providing my partner can find a job but we don't know where we would like to move as we only know the basics of England

Have a look on Rightmove for a few areas as a sample. For example £650 probably won't even get you a 1 bed flat in many areas of Southern England and areas such as Manchester. You do need to narrow it down a bit based on affordability and likelihood of work. Is transport an issue? Do you have any friends row family to move near or who you would like to be able to visit, so you would feel less isolated. I fear you may struggle to find a ll willing to let to you without a work contract and payment in advance.

We are looking at Co.Durham but to be fair we don't have any relative except ones in England that we aren't close to. We don't have trades that we could easily get a job in so we are slightly stuck just so unhappy here in northern Ireland. Is there anywhere that can give advice on this kind of stuff ?? x

What about the North West? Somewhere quiet but still near to the airport for easy access to Belfast?

I'd look at Ormskirk, Formby, Southport, near Liverpool airport or Cheshire for Manchester.

The first thing is work - what kind of work are you looking for? What sector? That's going to influence where you can live.

And Co. Durham is lovely, but the unemployment rate in the north east of England has been up around the highest in England for several years. But on the plus side, cost of rent etc is lower.
