I thought the Next sale was rubbish.............

got there at 6.40am

wanted some shoes for DH, but there were just a few instead the the usual display of all different sizes

The girls clothes were rubbish (age6&7)

Then you couldn't see a lot of the stuff as the queue was lined up along it

I did get a few bits of jewellery and a few gifts but then I wouldn't queue in what looked like it would take at least 45 mins to get to the counter, so dumped my bag and left

I had given up my lie in for that!!!!

I cannot believe that anyone would get up at 6.40 to go to the Next sale
And for shoes for your DH - double
Where was he - having a lie-in?

FiveGoldenFIMBOIDs · 27/12/2006 14:08

I gave up going to the Next sale about 5 years ago. TBH apart from basics like jeans I think their stuff has gone down hill. I went to Zara and got my dd some lovely bits and pieces - no hanging around at the tills for ages either.

SantasPersonalClown · 27/12/2006 14:10

I got some jeans cheap as they do good quality jeans in long leg lengths. But I do begrudge paying £35-£40 for a pair of jeans with a few sequins on them!!

anniebear · 27/12/2006 14:22

No, DH was looking after the children, I wouldn't have took them with me

I didnt get up at 6.40 to go to the Next sale........

One of my DD has special needs and doesnt sleep well, she is up in the night and also awake very early.

DH is off at the mo and we take it in turns to have a lie in (he usually gets up most mornings with them anyway!!)

I got woken at some silly time so I thought I would go and take a look at Next!!

although yes, I could have gone back to bed for a bit!!!!

I like their stuff as it actually fits me!
Nearly went this am but couldn't be bothered with the queues!
Usually shoes go in the sale on 28th instead of with the rest .

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 27/12/2006 19:08

We have a Next clearance shop now, think there is more of them than there used to be so less stuff goes in the sale IYSWIM

dmo · 27/12/2006 21:44

well i shopped in the next sale on fri 22nd online got loads of bargins and they arrived this morning at 8.30am

morningpaper · 27/12/2006 21:46

My DH got up at 6 because he usually gets a few suits for work on the first day of the sale.

But this year - nothing at all! No matching suits in his size. He was gutted!

bonkerz · 27/12/2006 21:55

well i have managed to buy 2 pink bridesmaid dresses for DD {1) and dsd(6) and spent £50 in store today, not that hectic and no queues at the till. Am well chuffed, have over £200 worth of stuff for less than £100!!!

DeckthehallsLaDiDaDi · 27/12/2006 22:35

I went into Newcastle at 11.30.

I got some bits for dd at Next, £30 in sale so at least £60 normally. I went to M&S but it was absolute pants. I got two pairs of trousers for her in Monsoon, both half price. John Lewis was rubbish for dd but I got a nice dress from their Warehouse concession reduced from £55 to £30. I was pleased because I had eyed it up when it was full price, though I haven't tried it on yet so it may still be a white elelphant.

saadia · 27/12/2006 23:11

I just shopped online for Next and Marks gear.

paulaplumpbottom · 28/12/2006 00:07

I didn't think much of the Next one - can't be bothered with the grown up stuff as I'd only end up taking most of it back.

I did get some bargains elsewhere - some flat boots & a pair of high sandals for £30 - would have cost £90. I find the sales good if you're just browsing rather than looking for specific items.

foxtrottothefestivegrotto · 28/12/2006 12:54

i popped in at 7pm last night as i was passing - it looked like the locusts had been through the store! But i did get a bag i'd been eyeing up just before xmas for less than half price and some lovely party shoes for DD, so very pleased.

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 28/12/2006 19:56

Had a quick look in Next today and it was much worse than usual (Debenhams the same too) loads of summer stuff and loads of full price stuff.

Posey · 28/12/2006 20:17

I got 3 tops and a cardi (real chunky knit, more like a jacket) all for less than the cardi was originally, so really pleased. But could not even get into the children's section which is crammed into the basement. Felt hot and claustraphobic straight away so didn't bother.

santassackyackertyyack · 28/12/2006 20:42

well i did the next sale at 5am and was back in bed by 6am!!! I was lucky and managed to get loads for my two littleys and also a jacket which i wanted before christmas ...it was £100 and reduced to £30 so pleased

LIZS · 28/12/2006 20:46

Very little left today - got ds a t shirt and dd some baseball boots. Ordered skiwear online and not sure it is suitable for dd (she has a very skinny waist but the trousers have no straps)and ds' still outstanding. Might go elsewhere over the weekend as heard they are only accepting returns from tomorrow so the hoards bought earlier in the week will trickle back.

poinsettydog · 28/12/2006 20:52

I think the next sales are always rubbish although I've not been to one for years now. Never the stuff I see in the shop before the sales. Load of old tat.

Hulababy · 28/12/2006 21:12

I have never seen anything decent int he Next sales. I am sure they get out stock from years ago; I never see anything from recent stock in there!

MrsSpoon · 28/12/2006 21:27

About 7 years ago I got up early for the Next sale and got some fanatastic bargains, however I have never done it since. Find that as the DSs get bigger there seems to be less and less in their size available in the sale, TBH at our local Next I think they just don't stock much in the bigger sizes for children. There is always loads and loads of baby stuff but it's difficult to find trousers in age six even when the stock is at full price.

This year I definately agree that the ladies clothes have gone downhill. I have a few bits ordered online but I am a bit disappointed with them and think they will be going back.
