24 hour bp monitoring - why does EVERYTHING go wrong when I am on it?

FFS, I was wired up for one of these this lunchtime.

Since then

I have been blown out for a radiator for my building work starting in less than a week and have had to rush around finding another

Spent 40 mins holding on for B&Q delivery helpline only to be told that their system is down (had been trying to get through all day but engaged)

My builder called to say he can't get one of the windows so had to call round a billion places and spend extra £300

My nanny called to say some yobs have smashed the window of the car (MY CAR) so had to call insurance co and arrange that

Opened my barclaycard bill to find had been charged £20 late payment fee so just spent half an hour trying to sort that out (AND IT WAS THEIR MISTAKE)

DH spent half an hour whinging at me about his work

DD wouldn't go to bed and screamed at me for ages.

SIL came round having just given up smoking and moaned so much that I want to smoke

PLUS I have this f**king thing on my arm that is so hot and scratchy and keeps nearly chopping my arm off every time it blows up.

So, the question is

DO YOU THINK I WILL HAVE HIGH BP OR NOT

Oh CountessDracula!!! i absolutely sympathise... i've been hooked up onto those blooming things about 8 times... during 1st preganancy they went mad and decided i should be monitored to the hilt fearing pre ecplampsia... during those 24 hours i would just lie down and watch telly and refused to do anything which would even moderatley raise my bp (dh was very understanding!) and by 2nd pregnancy i became wise to the system and would bargain like mad before reluctantly agreeing to the monitoring... needless to say i've just got high blood pressure... end of story...

complete commisserations from someone whose had lovely brusiing and red marks around the arm after those blessed 24hour hours!!!

hope the average worked out not as bad as you thought it would be!!

bea · 20/05/2004 08:22

ps my doc would sometimes call it

'white coat hypertension!'

Lots of sympathy, I suspect I will be facing one of these are one point. I'd hand the machine back with a this list and explain it wasn't a typical day .

Problem is that IS a normal day at the moment! Building work starts 1 June and every day something else goes wrong!

Thank you all - I just needed a rant last night!

Hey! All I can add it that my days are normally the same, although the sodding decorator has finally left YEAHHHH, I have my house back.

Last night I came home to find that he had left a pair of scissors and 2 screwdrivers lying in the hall way.

Smile tommorrow will be better

Oh Countess, poor you. Sorry Waitrose didn't have your mobile hope it turns up somewhere else. As a fellow high blood pressure person may I recommend a sit down & a large glass of red wine. Have just been to the Depot & their Cabernet Sauvignon is vair vair good. Also their black dessert wine thingy (hic)
