Moving to Milton Keynes, anyone out there?

We are moving to the Bucks, Beds Mk area as soon as we find a house. We liked the look of Woborn Sands, Newport Pagnell, Onley can anyone suggest areas that are similar to the ones I've listed. We only have £100,000 and need two/three bedrooms and a garden and something with a bit of character. Asking a lot I suppose. Do you know of a small town/village that has a particulary good primary school, any info would be great, feeling a little fearful about the whole thing. I have a great 'Mothers' network here and 2 year old Son gets to go to loads of play groups etc! I am very worried that we may not find enough to do but we do so want to get out of the city and find a good school for ds. Please help!

You could try this site to get an idea of what's available, Enchanted. They do links from the properties you look at to the Up My Street website so that you can check out exactly what's going on in your potential neighbourhood. Or go there direct Up My Street .

ScummyMummy,Thank you so much, I loved 'Up My Street', it has moved swiftly into my top 3 sites. I have checked out a few nurseries and located the crime hotspots etc, it's great to have access to so much info. It has also helped reduce my fears as I can now check it all out before we buy.

I work in MK (very near Woburn Sands) and know people who live in various areas around MK - I live about half an hour North along the A5 in a small market town of Towcester, Northamptonshire - the house prices get cheaper once you get into Northants and it is worth looking around there - only estate agent I know of with a website is this one . Both my kids go to an excellent school in Towcester - Nicholas Hawksmoor (may be worth looking them up on the Ofsted website) - they are a beacon school and always over subscribed, there is also a good school at the nearby village of Greens Norton. There is a good NCT network, leisure facilities (local junior football teams, rugby club, ballet & dance, swimming lessons, gym etc. etc). I won't bore you with further details but if you want them, let me know (we could always exchange email addresses and I could bore you privately).

Jaybee, Towcester sounds great. I tried the Estate Agent you mentioned but didn't have much luck. I did have a look on UpMyStreet and got loads of info about the schools etc. I would love you to bore me further, [email protected]
I would like to know the names of the closest surrounding villages, also how many miles are you away from the M1?
