Places out of London with a reasonable commute to Canary Wharf - any ideas?

Just scouting for some ideas

DH's job is currently in Canary Wharf, he could end up back in the City again but not for a while.
We are in South London at present but thinking about possiblities for a move out of town

I guess we are looking for a total commute of 1 hr or less
Any suggestions?

I lived in St Albans and commuted to Canary Wharf. It wasn't too bad really - and this was before the DLR was even half-reliable. Thameslink straight to Moor Street, quick walk to Bank, DLR to Canary Wharf. Was less than an hour, IIRC.

our neighbours work in canary warf and we live in se20 near beckenham/kent, they seem happy with commute or you can get via catford even easier as i`m sure you know

No practical help, as i live west of town which makes the city trick these books are good, they list the train routes etc.

In the longer term you could take a punt on Crossrail ever being built!! this

Essex isn't too bad - DH used to work in CW and it used to take him 40 mins from Loughton - central line to Stratford and DLR to CW ... not too bad at all.
