I was pushing ght edouble pushchair on the pavement along a very busy road. There is a load of new houses being built along the road and a truck was parked right across the pavement. I had no choice but to push a baby and toddler on the road as there was no way I could get past. I was almost in tears as it's really dangerous. So I went on to the building site where there is an office marketing the new houses and a very nice woman said she'd tell the site manager for me. Feel very proud of myself... silly really, should complain more!!

Good for you, I always complain about things I'm not happy about.

LucyJones · 13/12/2006 14:11

Thanks
It did make me wonder what someone would have done in a wheelchair too....

I always complain about every thing, and so far have received:

safeway gift vouchers
Successful court case against huge shitty car company who sold me duff brand new car
new sofa after other one broke within 2 years,

and loads and loads of other stuff that I can't remember.

Have particularly successful ploy with large childrenswear retailer, whose t shirts always shrink! I take them back when they no longer fit ds through shrinkage, and ask for next size up. This will fit ds, but then of course shrinks, so trot back to shop and get next size up etc etc. Marvellous!

SherlockLGJ · 13/12/2006 15:07

Eh fizzbuzz is that not dishonest ??

If you know they are going to shrink, surely you buy the bigger size to start with ???

fizzbuzz · 13/12/2006 15:16

Don't always know they are going to shrink. However if they do and then don't fit ds because of shrinkage then am entitled to refund whatever size I buy.

They should make items that don't shrink. Used to work in rag trade and the fabric they use is well known for instabitlity and shrinkage, so they need to get their products sorted out.

SherlockLGJ · 13/12/2006 15:18

Different strokes I guess.

paulaplumpbottom · 13/12/2006 15:53

I think yall should complain more. The customer service in the UK is horrid.

LadyTophamHatt · 13/12/2006 15:59

It wouldn't have even crossed my mind to complain .....

LadyTophamHatt · 13/12/2006 16:00

about the parking thing I mean.

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 13/12/2006 16:02

Oh yes good girl for complaining about the truck in the road!! Well done you!!

As for fizzbuzz...that's plain old fashioned dishonesty I think.

peegeeinapeartree · 13/12/2006 16:11

I see where you are coming from fizzbuzz, but I don't agree with it...
Also, perhaps they have to buy the cheap and unstable fabric for their clothes as they are constantly having to give free replacements to serial complainers like you!

If I come across a company which produces clothes that shrink I vote with my feet and not buy there again!

Well done about complaining re the lorry LucyJones. I did a similar thing with a vandriver the other day, except I asked the van driver to keep the path clear for pedestrians and he came out and called me a f***g upstart and other pleasant terms....

Oh well, perhaps one day people's manners will improve, along with customer service...

LadyTophamHatt · 13/12/2006 16:11

If the van was parked on the road would there have been enough room for a fire engine to get though?

Thats what I often think.

Maybe he had to park like that to create enough space for emergency services...??

peegeeinapeartree · 13/12/2006 16:13

Even with the van on the path the fireengine could not have got through - it is a narrow road with a double yellow along it exactly for that reason!!

SherlockLGJ · 13/12/2006 16:30

I am glad others agree with me on the subject of Fizzbuzz. I am poorly today and didn't have the energy to marshall my thoughts to discuss the morals of it.

DonnerDasherDancerDior · 13/12/2006 16:34

Fizzbuzz - one day you will get caught out and they will only replace with the same size. Then you'll be stuffed.

LIZS · 13/12/2006 16:50

Good for you Lucy Jones. If it happens again call the council Planning dept - they may well have put conditions on the planning consent requiring the highway and access to be kept clear of such traffic.

Fizzbuzz, people behaving like you mean that prices are bumped that extra few % for the rest of us . I don't endorse poor quality goods but you may find that particular branches get to know your face and details if you try it once too often.

fizzbuzz · 13/12/2006 17:54

OK, so am evil and terrible person. Have never thought of it as dishonest, as I always tell them it is 2nd/3rd etc replacement. However they still are providing goods which are under performing, even if I tell them.

As to why buy them, didn't realise at first, then did and got annoyed that really nice clothes always behaved like this, and then got reall really annoyed. I was paying for stuff that basically didn't work as it should. However thet only offer replacement of same item, so same thing keeps happening.

However will now think about it in different light, but ultimately they are providing shoddy goods. It doesn't happen with other shops, just this particular one.

tassis · 13/12/2006 18:00

everytime I go to next at the moment I complain about the fact that you can't get a pushchair past people at the tills becuase of where they position the wrapping paper

but they just smile at me and do nothing about it

IT'S DOING MY HEAD IN!!!

paulaplumpbottom · 13/12/2006 18:01

Who is it?

peegeeinapeartree · 13/12/2006 19:36

fizzbuzz - who are the retailer with the shoddy clothes, have a tiny suspicion but would like to know... (insert noxy emoticon here)

ImMcDreamyingofawhitexmas · 13/12/2006 19:40

It's illegal to block a pavement like that - I only know coz my dad got told off by a policeman for doing it and he used the "lady with a pushchair" scenario to illustrate his point. Well done for pointing it out to the company.

I am looking forward to getting back to the UK and their customer service as the customer service here is Cyprus is APPALLING!!!!!!!
