We've done Pippa, Sindy, sindy houses - but did anyone else have Julip horses?

Well I know at least one mnetter did come out if you dare!
but anyone else?
Am just ordering one for my 9 year old niece for Christmas and have been overwhelmed with nostalgia. It's not as special as the ones we used to get (but then it's not as expensive, thankfully).
I had a whole room set up as a stable yard, and I still have my horses and the stable my Canadian aunt made for me years ago.
And we used to go up to a tiny basement shop in Beauchamp Place to get them, it was like something out of Dickens

My friend did and I was very jealous. She had virtually every breed known to horsewoman.

I had to make do with Sindy horse and the ActionMan horse which was a bloody great black beast with a roman nose. He was lovely really! (I let my 5yo DD play with them sometimes)!

me me, I too remember going to beauchamp place on rare trips to london, and once to their shop in salisbury
still got most (all?) of them in the bottom of my wardrobe

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 13/12/2006 09:07

yay - not just me then
I have the horses on a cupboard in my bedroom, they are lovely. and I did love all the headcollars, hay nets, riders, dogs, buckets etc. you could get. Plus show jumps and things

I don't know what happened to all my other model horses. I think my dad must have thrown them out . I had loads - I was obsessed (and never got a real one, harrumph)

I've still got 2 Julip horses.
We went on holiday to Devon once and I got to visit the factory in Newton Abbot.
Spent all my holiday money on a pony and bridle.
A cousin played with them once and broke the wire in their legs, never forgiven that!!!!
Glad I held on to them

FairytaleOfNewNORKSBRIDE · 13/12/2006 14:09

I suppose I shouldn't be jealous of all the Julip horses my friend and MrsJohnC had - given that I did have real ponies/horses to play with!

EniDeepMidwinter · 13/12/2006 14:10

I have just been to their HQ! this morning!

they are based about 20 mins away

mrsjohn - the original julips are fabby and I looked through them all. Bought dd1 Horse of the Year range though which are much cheaper

EniDeepMidwinter · 13/12/2006 14:10

You can sell yours on ebay for LOAAAAAAAAADS

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 13/12/2006 21:12

I could never sell mine. I have ones going back to the 70s (their legs are looking a bit withered now though)

I bought my niece a cheaper one with rider and bits and bobs and actually it looks pretty good - hopefully she will be thrilled. at those with real horses. I can remember my friend had loads of Julips, and a rocking horse, and then she moved to the country and got 2 real horses - I was so jealous for years (still am now really!)
