Just wondering what to use ours for really.
Dp said computer room, but then I've got to stay up there when the kids are on the computer then.

I thought i might stick a bed settee in there and then storew the kids toys in it so that their rooms aren't so cluttered.

Or i could stick my tumble dryer in there along with my ironing board and have it as a laundry room. Think i'd get bored of that though.

baldrick · 17/05/2004 17:21

we don't as children have separate rooms...could it be your's/Dp's escape room (like people have workshops/ studies...ie.somewhere they go away from telly etc)..with nice homely things in too?

Nutcracker · 17/05/2004 17:21

Well yeah, there is every possibility that thats what we will use it for if we don't give it a purpose.

Well we could have used it as another bedroom so that dd's didn't have to share, but it's very small so i'd rather them share the big room.

No way is Dp having it as his room, he'd think he could take over the whole bloody house then

We use ours for all the things you've mentioned at once.
Futon for when people stay, computer desk with computer and spare TV, book shelves, cupboard for dd's toys and other junk, drawers full of all her old clothes (must sort those and throw most out as new one is due to be a boy), and dd's lovely big plastic kitchen.
However all that is about to change as it is going to become dd's bedroom so that the tiny room she currently occupies can become the nursery for ds due August.
Her kitchen is being banished to the summerhouse at the end of the garden

Our spare room resembles a Chinese Laundry as I have no other means of drying our clothes! I also keep the ironing board in there to save mucking downstairs up and of course, we use it as a guest bedroom....not that we ever invite guests over....because then I'd have to hide the washing!!

Wall to wall floor to ceiling - vinyl and a set of decks, plus computer ans a mixing desk and keyboards and computer manuals amnd speakers!

marialuisa · 17/05/2004 17:36

we have a double bedroom spare and we use it as a room for visitors/office (actually just the enclave to one side of the fireplace). only thing is I actually sleep in there to avoid DH's snoring...

Nutcracker - we have the boys (5 & 6) sharing in the small room. There's just space for their bunks, chest of drawers and wardrobe. Then the big room (and it is big) has a double bed for guests, plus shelving and more shelving for all their books, toys, and games. Works well for us .. if they set the scalextric up or whatever, it doesn't need to be put away at bedtime, and toys aren't a distraction when they should be sleeping. And, because they have loads of space to play, I get to have a toy-free lounge

Nutcracker · 17/05/2004 19:35

Thats what i long for, a toy free lounge

I'm aiming for a toy free lounge to. We're having a loft conversion and it will be two bedrooms for the boys. Then we will have two spare rooms. One will be dh's room containing his weights and exercise bike which are currently in my conservatory. It will also contain his PC which is in the conservatory at the moment to.

The other spare room will then be a playroom with all the toys in and a spare bed for sleepovers. Also the pain in my life is going in there, the PS2 that way I can't hear the arguing between dh and ds1.

Flip · 17/05/2004 19:45

Forgot to add, then I get a clutter free conservatory and living room all for myself.

Nutcracker · 17/05/2004 19:47

Oooh that sounds nice Flip

Think i will have it as a multi functional room then, for toys and sleep overs.
