We have tickets for the matinee of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on 23rd December and wanted to go for lunch first. Don't want to chance not booking in case its really busy that day but I'm not from Edinburgh and can't remember the names of any restaurants I've eaten in previously. We will have the dds with us but they'll eat anything

There is (or was) a lovely Italian on the Royal Mile. Gordon's Trattoria. Don't know if it still exists!

Vittoria's is nice. So is Valvona & Crolla. MMmmmm.

Ceolas · 11/12/2006 16:20

Oh yes V&C! You'll spend a fortune though...

Gordon's is still there. Don't know if it's still as good though

Giuliano's - cheery Italian, over the road, won't rook you.

Ferri's - straight across the road. Where DH took me when we were courting! Is an Italian too by the way.

Those all sound great, thanks. I think we ate in a nice French place close by too. Quite small? Any thoughts?

Don't know the French place but Ferri's is really nice, but you'd deffo need to book. We were very disappointed last year & ended up at Slug & Lettuce.

Thai Me Up is great & more or less opposite if the kids would eat thai food.
