3 members of family on DLA?

ok, need some advice. dd1 and dh are both on DLA due to health reasons. it has been suggested that i apply now for dd2. dd2 is sick a lot (possibly reflux) has ezcema and is having her walking looked at as its not right (funny walk). I feel really weird about possibly having 3 members of my family on DLA, think people will think we are taking the p*ss a bit. I want to wait till dd2 appointment in june and see what they say (am hoping it will be minor, easily sorted). I know my life is different to some mums, and not as hard as others, but i just feel really funny about this. I guess i want a normal child with no problems, who sleeps thro, isnt sick except when really ill, has beatiful skin and the only docs appointments they need is for 1,2 and 3 year checks, and pre-school medical or something.

Sorry if i sound whingey, but i have spent yesterday cleaning up sick out of the hire car and this evening trying to get dd2 to take her infant gaviscon and just feel like it never ends.

Would you claim in this situation? its been going on longer than 3months (is that the time scale? 20months for the possible relux, 10months for the walking, around 6months with the ezcema, its bad atm but has had small patches before this)

Misdee, I would claim, if you get it you are entitled to it. Nothing to be ashamed about . I have 2 on DLA, one on lower and one on higher, if it helps!

Misdee, if you are entitled to it, claim it. There's no shame in using the support available to you, whether financial or otherwise. That's what we pay our taxes for. (I'm a higher rate taxpayer and I'd rather think my taxes went to help people when they need it than on many of the other things Government funds, frankly).

even if we got it, i think most of it would go on getting the car regularly valeted and the sofa cleaned (will get leather next time)

I would wait until June- just because if the her problem has an official name then you'll be more likely to get it. I waited until DS1's dx to claim- his needs didn't change overnight- but the likelihood of me getting it did (and I got higher rate which I doubt I could have got without a dx).

Why not ring and get the form now, then wait until June and if you decide to claim the money will be backdated anyway.

Anyway know what you mean. We are hoping that number 3 will be ridiculously precocious - mind you would settle for having a child who doesn't need SALT

is it 4, 6 or 8week u have to get the form filled in and sent back? dd2 appointment is on 28th june (and did we have to fight for that!!!)
