there are lots of decent, child friendly places in Oxford Castle. it's going to be busy so that might be good to give you plenty of options.
there;s a Pizza Express, a Carluucios here and a HaHa canteen.
I really like a place called the Nose bag but it will be heaving for sure.
there are several park and rides, depending which end of town you approach from.
where are you coming from?

tamum · 07/12/2006 23:02

I'm not in Oxford but we had some nice family meals at Carluccios there in the summer. In the converted castle bit, I'm sure someone else will be able to remember what it's called. I'm pretty certain there's a park and ride.

if you have a bit of money to spend (don't know your budget) then Quod is VERY nice imho

brimfull · 07/12/2006 23:04

we'll be coming from southcoast.
Actually coming just to take a pair of boots back to Ravel as it's the nearest shop.
Dreading the business actually,I usually avoid the shops on a saturday.

Tootsies do posh burgers, popular with the young folk

oh and there's an open air ice rink at the mo if you want to get cold and bruised at £9 a pop

ok if you're coming up the A34 you need redbridge
remember you need to pay for parking AND the bus in the Oxford Park and Ride

Gees is very overpriced as well. We like Branca's, in Jericho, for future reference. glad you had a nice time.

The Trout at Godstow

ruty · 10/12/2006 10:09

Pruni. Yes`I am. You can stalk me any time.
I like the Trout dino [it is dino?] but gets very crowded. Better is the Perch on the other side of the meadow.

what's the White Hart at Wytham like these days - it used to be fab when I were a lass

ruty · 10/12/2006 10:39

White Hart is lovely - we wanted to do ds's christening party there, but it was just a bit too pricey! Has gone very posh, since i was here as a student, but really nice, especially in summer for a posh-ish meal. Good food.
