Help! Need Data on Child Abductions to disprove they have increased.

I need to find the research/figures that proves child abductions haven't increased since say 1960, just the media coverage has increased.

I know this is a weird request, but I have a strong feeling that a few MNetters can help me on this, as I know it has come up on a few threads in the past.

The reason I need to know is for an assignment on child health for university. I know its a weird link, but I hoping this reference will help to boost my mark - wider reading and what not!

Type 'child abduction' into google and you can find evidence that in fact reported abduction HAS increased, especially attempted abduction by strangers. Child murders though have remained static for many decades with nearly 80%of all child murders being by parents.
