Do you have 2 minutes to do a kind deed?

In the absence of a music forum, thought I'd give this a whirl here.
My friend EJ Norman is a professional carer by day and an electropop singer-songwriter by night. She's entered a competition to win a professional demo, management advice and to meet Ian McCulloch (Echo and the Bunnymen.)
She is a very kind, hardworking person and deserves a lucky break like this so please vote for her (even if the music isn't your cup of tea!) You don't have to register or put your name anywhere, it's just a click.
Vote here
Thanks

Sorry but no. I hate these "please vote for this person" things because then it becomes a "popularity/who knows the most people" contest rather than one of talent.

You should vote for whicever entrants song you like the best. Is it fair that the genuiney best one doesn't win simply becasue they don't have access to an online community?

(and yes, I guess that the other entrants are doing the same thing but it really bugs me )

SantaGotStuckUpTheGreensleeve · 07/12/2006 18:04

There's always one

Carmenere · 07/12/2006 18:05

On my sisters competition it wasn't based solely on votes and it was a bloody brilliant film that has won 7 awards already and anyone on here who voted watched it and commented on how good it was and if they diddn't want to they diddn't have to.

Stockingsofdinosaurs · 07/12/2006 18:09

Feel free to browse the 400 or so entrants . TBH this is pretty much how
Myspace works which is now a huge part of the record industry. I agree with you to some extent but networking is as vital to a solo musician's career as performing, a crowd attracts a crowd.
And my friend is much nicer than Lily Allen, queen of Myspace

Have voted, and not just because I wanted a good deed, but because I liked it! Sounded sort of Madonna -ish, and I am a Madonna fan, what can I say, eh!
Know what you mean, Dragon...I also really don't like this kind of thing of getting votes...BUT because I listened to it and liked it, I think it's o.k.! imo, anyway, lol

Dottydotthehalls · 07/12/2006 22:16

Stockingsofdinosaurs · 07/12/2006 22:18

Thanks all, even if she doesn't get the most votes there is a category where the judges choose their favourite song. So fingers crossed old Bunnyboy falls in love with it.
