.....havent stopped crying all morning. Basically have said he will be finished at the end of january so he will be out of a job. Dont know what to do as it is the worst time possible. Db is due 14th jan but will be getting induced so will probably ask for the 8th of jan so we can sort ourselves out. With christmas etc he is going to find it really hard to get another job. We already live on a very tight budget due to the IVA etc so got no idea how we will cope..I just dont know what will happen

Oh no -sorry to hear this.

Is he in the sort of job where he can sign up with an agency to at lesat try and get temporary work to tide you over?

xena · 07/12/2006 13:55

sorry to hear this nemo, what line of work is he in?

piglit · 07/12/2006 13:56

Sorry to hear this nemo. Has he told the supervisor of his IVA? Will he be able to reschedule his repayments to make things easier for you?

Nemoinapeartree · 07/12/2006 14:00

piglit havent told the IVA people yet as he was only told this morning so we have been phoning mortgage people to see if we can put a plan in place for reduced payments from end of jan.

betty and xena he used to work as a sales manager but took a job as a science sales rep as he has a phd in microbiology but has been out of the lab too long to get back in. He has also just completed the first part of a computer course so is comp tia[whatever that is] qualified aswell so he has been on the phone to the people who run the course as they do cvs etc for you it just the time of it all as with xmas he isnt likely to get interviews before then with baby coming he will be applying for jobs but we may have a period when he is out of work which will cripple us.

don't be too downheartened - people don't entirely shut down over christmas anymore and you may get lucky. In the interim can he sign up with temp agencies/consultancy work as there's usually a lot of it about in jan from DH's experience?

piglit · 07/12/2006 14:03

Good idea. See if you can work out some kind of plan between you before you mention it to his supervisor. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

ItalianJob · 07/12/2006 14:05

oh bollocks . Do you know if there is any scope to vary the monthly payments for the IVA given the circumstances? I have a friend whose dh was out of a job for health reasons whilst they had IVA, am sure that their montly payments decreased bvecause of this.

Nemoinapeartree · 07/12/2006 14:07

IJ dh seems to think they should consider reducing payments to the IVA as that is the whole point to stop you sinking further under. Just trying to sort ourselves out but am not thinking too straight at the minute..damn hormones.

Let tax credits, benefits agency etc etc all know find out what you are entitled to and get all the forms ready to claim before you have the baby, and if he doesnt find work before his last working day.

Nemoinapeartree · 07/12/2006 14:12

QV will tell tax credits etc when I call to let them know about the baby. As for benefits think there is only child benefit as doesnt he have to be out of work for 6weeks before he gets anything else?

Not sure....best to find out in advance though? Ring Ben agency to find out - working tax credit and all sorts isnt there?

Nemoinapeartree · 07/12/2006 14:18

will do QV. Apparently just asked DH about temp agencies and he said he cant as due to the IVA he has to be in permanent employment because I am not.

MerryChristmasfromQV · 07/12/2006 15:19

Sorry - meant benefits agency.

Nemoinapeartree · 07/12/2006 20:43
