Mine was right about the fact that wearing cheap stilletoes would ruin my feet.

Also that babies sleep better outside during the day.

What was your mother right about?

That I needed to have more respect for myself as far as men were concerned.

That an education can matter.

That short skirts can have an effect on grown men.

That teenagers don't know everything and aren't indestructible.

That babies thrive on going to bed early and should be encouraged to do se at an early age. DD slept 12 hrs per night from being 6 wks old. I could have just been very lucky but she is right about loads of these kind of things and now she goes to bed at 7pm and it is my only quiet tiem Shie is now 11 mth old

LOL MI yours is nice too.

Mine was right about, ooh, lots of things. But mainly about how little I knew compared to her!

HoHoHorsewoman · 06/12/2006 22:26

My Mum was wrong about so much....Most memorably that I wouldn't make a good driver because I couldn't cook or anything (WTF???!! I was 18 and living at home at the time). I can happily report that I am no mean cook now, and have inherited my dad's ability to drive better than anyone else I know (especially my mum, who is a chronic driver). However, when it comes to matters around the home, raising children etc, she was right about just about all of it; I have learned from her example - and she's still a better cook than me!

Stockingsofdinosaurs · 06/12/2006 23:09

That the vomiting caused by my first monring after pill was nothing compared to morning sickness and I should learn from it as I would no doubt be doomed to be as sick as she was. Spot on for once

There'll be tears before bedtime.
Burping the National Anthem is not big or clever.
Loud ties cannot compensate for a dull personality (even if he has got a beautiful face!)
Over-the-knee socks do not look good with a short school skirt.
A man who can/will nurse you back to health after having four impacted wisdom teeth extracted will make a wonderful husband.

That arguing loudly upsets the neighbours.

That you should never trust a man with thin lips

SantaGotStuckUpTheGreensleeve · 07/12/2006 11:57

lol, my dad said "never trust a thin cook". It makes me snigger every time I see Gary Rhodes

WelshBoris · 07/12/2006 12:00

My mother is barking mad though

She works in the hosptial where DD was last week, on the childrens ward

I call my boyfriend a very sickly sweet crappy nickname, but its stuck

She has told everyone in work, so when he was walking through the ward, or taking DD to the playroom when she was bette, you see the staff sniggering

Thanks mam
