OMG! Please tell me they aren't lost forever?!

Switched on my computer which normally has ds as the wallpaper, my screensaver is a slideshow of my other photos stored on the computer only to find I now have a blank wallpaper and the original crap screen saver. Decided to go and sort out my desktop piccies again and have realised they are all gone!!

Everything has been wiped - they were all there yesterday and now nothing Why might this have happened? Any ideas - do you reckon it is probably a virus? If so, have all my photos gone forever. I know I'm a silly cow for not saving them onto a disk but you know how it is, never got round to it. I don't have many hard copy photos of ds and had loads of the wedding on there, gutted

Is there anything I can do to retrieve them?

if you have windows xp you can go back to a previous restore point

but I wouldn't know how to explain it to you

you have to restart the computer in safe mode, and from there you can restore a previous point, but I couldn't explain to you how to do it.

So it sounds promising then? No idea what you are talking about though Will def need someone to give me step by step instructions if at all poss? thanks.

go into start menu and get programmes up. click on pc help and support. your restore point should be there.

Thanks for your advice but I definitely win the award for biggest idiot! I have just shut down the computer in the hope that when I log back on they might be there - I realised I have logged on under dhs name, not mine - he never uses the computer so everything is blank for him.......I'm an idiot! They are all sat there happily under my own log in doh!
