we just did ours ourselves- have you got a digital camera? we dressed them in their sunday best and draped a white throw over the sofa and sheepskin rug on the floor to make a backdrop and snapped away to our hearts content. Was good fun and we've got some cracking pics which I have digitally enhanced. Have ordered some on canvas via the internet as presents but you can have them made into anything- cards, calendars, mugs, posters, mouse mats, pillow cases etc etc or just plain old photos. Much cheaper too

oh righty... might try that... I did want a nice background though, but ive never really seen any advertised.

theres a studio in Asda at Lower Early - not used it yet but seen some of the results and they're ok and cheap

Somewhere like Olan Mills have a cheesy christmas backdrop and cosumes. Results are not bad, if you like that kind of thing.

Oh my mum made me and my sister have those Olan Mills ones done years ago! (and I do mean many, many years). Do they still do them then, with the sort of roller blind that comes down behind you with a photo of a fireplace and christmas tree on it? I think my mum still has the photo somewhere, it was quite good actually .

Quootiepie · 05/12/2006 14:10

thats exactly what I want! cheesy fire place etc. Ill get Dh to ring them - their website shows there are about 3 close to us... although their gallery is all very modern.

Olan Mills are very good apparently... My Mum lives in Reading and says that evryone she knows has had their portraits done with them.

foxtrottothefestivegrotto · 05/12/2006 14:19

pixel thats exactly it, roller blind and a very grubby faux sheepskin rug to curl up on.

Quootiepie · 05/12/2006 14:20

foxtrot - not a fan then?

LOL having read this i am tempted to see whether they still have ours available to buy from about 3 years ago. We bought the dull one with the hideous fuzzy blue background and it is stuffed in a drawer somewhere. Maybe i should've got the cheesy one instead??

Quootiepie · 05/12/2006 15:57

cheesy definatly is the way to go

I do draw the line at dressing DS in a santa outfit... although it was very tempting

Ever had a xmas card from America? They are into cheesy family pics on their cards (but i think it is meant to be sincere rather than cheesy IYSWIM) We've had some corkers.

Quootiepie · 05/12/2006 20:16

yep ! I like the letters we get with them.... about how wonderful their kids are doing etc.etc My mum has a drawer full of family photos from random people in America
