don't know about tarmac, but we had a quote for block paving in the summer of about £4000. He's just come back to us and said that as he's got no work on in Feb/Mar, he'd do it for £2700 if we were interested?

So, (to get to the point), it might be a good time of year to be doing it.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thanks anyway

we got a quote for tarmac finish on a new driveway we had built. was one price to have all the groundwork done and brickwork and gates an shit, with gravel surface... and then 9 grand extra to do tarmac !!

we have decided gravel is much better option. better for security coz you can hear people coming...

Ouch! .....Ok time for a new idea

Nappies Galore - My dh is a landscape gardener, he doesn't do much tarmacing, (sub-contracts it), but last job he did was a small to medium sized parking area which he charged out at £1250 plus VAT. Maybe your man didn't need/want the job so he massively upped the price, or maybe it was a new type of tarmac - with gold nuggets in!!!

Sorry, just joking, just trying to say not to be put off completely, think nappies galore was nearly ripped off big time. Katymac should hopefully find it much cheaper than that!

Helenn - How much a square m ?

we just had ours done It cost £1600,for a double car length drive to be widened to fit two cars side by side.Sorry don't know square metre size.

Katymac · 04/12/2006 22:55

If they Tesco size spaces (4) then that is about 20 sqm

WonderCod · 04/12/2006 22:55

they left £20 on mine

Helennn · 04/12/2006 23:01

Sorry, no idea of square metreage(?),and dh in bed. Try to picture bog-standard semi-detached house with driveway at front with splayed area for parking 2 or 3 cars side by side in front of house. Ggirls sounds about right.

Katymac · 05/12/2006 07:50

Appreciate the info anyway - it kinda confirms that it's too expensive

WonderCod · 05/12/2006 15:34

lol at nappiues

NappiesGaloriaInExcelsis · 05/12/2006 17:36

thats a point actually - cod, who laid your drive? dont mind shelling out for tarmac if it coughs up a return score every day or teo...
