Can I have a rough idea how much per sqm

a)Vinyl costs to fit
b)Marmoleum costs to fit

TIA
KMc

A. - normal domestic vinyl is about £4.00 per sqm

B. - Marmoleum is much more expensive as it comes under contract flooring - which is more specialist

Katymac · 03/12/2006 18:53

Is that for fitting or to buy?

theXmaskedposter · 03/12/2006 18:56

just fitting I am informed by dh

the price to buy vinyl usually starts at about £5.00 - £6.00 per sqm

Katymac · 03/12/2006 18:58

That's OK that's the price I have allowed for

But the marmoleum I have got a price of £15 psqm - but someone says fitting could be £30 psqm

thexmaskedposter des your DH know anything about Rubber flooring?

OP posts:
generaldogsbody1 · 03/12/2006 22:27

My dp is a carpet fitter, he charges £3.40 for vinyl and 6.40 for marmoleum.

He would have to borrow the gear to do the latter but has contacts in this area who would do a homer. Same for rubber flooring. Where abouts are you?

I am always on at him to put his prices up. Hasn't given himself a raise for years lol.

Katymac · 03/12/2006 22:31

I'll pay his train fare and have him to stay if he will lay my marmoleum for 6.40 a sqm

I'm in Norfolk

&I love you/him - it will be in april/jun next year

Would you like a few day holiday in Norfolk...bring the kids?

OP posts:
Katymac · 03/12/2006 22:36

Come back generaldogsbody...you know you want a holiday in Norfolk...the broads, great Yarmouth, Norwic....come back please

OP posts:
generaldogsbody1 · 03/12/2006 22:40

Ahh, we are live in balloch just by loch lomond. A trip to Norfolk sounds loverly however, dd1 is expected to arrive in april. new bubs and ds's may not be poss lol. Sorry

Katymac · 03/12/2006 22:44

That's most unreasonable of you - can't you move the arrival of the baby

What a shame....mind you the train fare might have been out of my price range anyway

Does he know anyone down this way (even in London)

Why is he so cheap (if you will excuse the phrase) when they are charging £30 psqm round here?

OP posts:
generaldogsbody1 · 03/12/2006 22:53

He's self employed, no huge overheads, no staff and he's too bloody soft lol. He feels guilty for asking for that amount of money.
He charges £2.40 for capreting. Oh yeah quote from Dp "people up here (Scotland) won't pay that amount, too stingey"
They will and they do!!!!
He's bloody good at his job, but as I said before too bloody soft.. Try looking round for a one man, two man out fit, reccomendations etc.
DP dosn't need to advertise. Phone rings off the hook. Word of mouth is great.

jingleboobs · 03/12/2006 22:59

my dh is floor layer construction and domestic but we live in notts i'll ask him if he can think off a firm or contact

Katymac · 04/12/2006 08:14

Bump for more carpet fitters

OP posts:
fairyjay · 04/12/2006 16:09

Surely the £30 you were quoted for fitting includes other stuff - ripping up existing flooring, making good, screeding, plywood base?

If not, I'm on my way to Norfolk to set up as a carpet fitter!!

Katymac · 04/12/2006 16:19

You'd think wouldn't you......
