Ok, the rest of my house is messy also, but there is one room which is doing my head in. It's a multipurpose room (ironing, our clothes are there, has a freezer...) and has never ever been organised. We moved here over a year and a half ago and just throw our junk in there.

So.. help me please! I've tried FlyLady (it's not for me, but I do like breaking things into 15 minute bursts) and other things, but... it's still a mess.

It'd be a great room, too -- nothing needed except some organisation.

we had a room like this, i looked at fly lady and thought NO but i did either 15 mins each day or when I couldn't manage this I tried to throw out 15 things. Took about a month put we ended up with a tidy room. However it is slowly returning to its previous state. Maybe this is the inspiration I need to do it again.

Have you seen the programme 60 minute makeover, presented by Claire Sweeney? she's a bit of a pain but, if you register with these people then you get put in the hat for a house makeover - and it's all free!! at least if you won, this would give you a kick up the wotsit to get organised before the interior designers arrive IYKWIM

tamum · 12/05/2004 17:37

Would this do....

JJ! Get off your butt and do it now!!!

champs · 12/05/2004 17:41

JJ unfortunetly, I have 4 rooms that need a tidy, so have no advsise only empathy and that isn't gonna sort out our rooms!! What is Fly Lady?

fairyfly · 12/05/2004 17:47

Is it me do i have to tidy everyones house

mummysurfer · 12/05/2004 17:52

here's Fly Lady
don't subscribe tho' she sends you loads of emails telling you what to do next. there are/were? plenty of threads about flylady

mummysurfer · 12/05/2004 17:55

kelly's missions are more manageable!!

JJ · 12/05/2004 18:05

I'm in Switzerland, plus I don't want decorators (unless she's an old friend of mine) in my house. I've got no taste and I want my house to reflect that.

But I just sat down, tamum!

champs, mummysurfer, let's do it together. One of my room's current uses is laundry sorting room and it will stay that, so I can't count the time doing laundry as this but... let's do the 15 minutes and/or 15 things gone everyday.

FF, I think I would let you give me a big kick up the arse if you came and tidied up my house. Just a thought... (my arse could handle it -- loads of padding)

MadameButterfly · 12/05/2004 21:34

I will join you tomorrow.

marthamoo · 12/05/2004 21:34

Everyone needs a messy, all-purpose room. Our study is spare room, play room, computer HQ, video and CD storage space, tool storage area, and general dumping ground. I just shut the door and tell myself the rest of the house is not so bad

JJ · 12/05/2004 21:39

Oh right.. sorry folks, I'm starting on the room tomorrow. But did do laundry, etc in there today, just nothing additional.

But call me on that, please!

(tonight I watched x-men)

champs · 13/05/2004 00:04

JJ,will join in tomorrow!!

JJ · 13/05/2004 07:42

Ok, if you're looking to me for motivation and/ or kicks to get going, I'll probably fizzle out, so please feel free to chip in and yell at me to get my arse in gear.

Today is yesterday's tomorrow folks, so you've got your whole day to do 15 minutes / 15 things. And yes, if you do 30 minutes, you can skip a day later. This will be like WW in that respect.

Must go not neglect son now.

champs · 13/05/2004 22:57

oh dear... have fallen at first hurddle!!!!!!

mummysurfer · 15/05/2004 10:16

me too
shall we start again?
10 things or 10 minutes as we couldn't manage 15?

Beccarollover · 22/05/2004 06:55

Can we do this?

House is a tip

JJ · 22/05/2004 07:04

Of course, BeccaRollover!

I was coming on this morning to anounce that the room is still a little messy (the shelves aren't perfectly organized), but it's done! I took a carload of stuff to the recycling center/ dump yesterday, too!

But what happened was both boys were home (it was a school holiday here), it was raining, and we cleaned and ate ice cream bars while having a movie on (in the next room). Not the ideal way to do it and probably not repeatable.

There's still tons to do. My next room is the room with the tv..

Ok, so 15 minutes today or 15 things. (I should do it right now, but won't!)

Beccarollover · 22/05/2004 07:06

I havent read the whole thread - how does it go?

15 minutes in one room or throw 15 things away?

JJ · 22/05/2004 07:12

Either one, it's a slacker's version of Flylady. But choose one room to do. And it's also like WW -- you can bank times (if you do 30 minutes today, you can do nothing tomorrow).

I have to admit that I'm not good at things like this..

OP posts:
mummysurfer · 22/05/2004 07:13

yes i'm willing to give it another go
good morning by thway, glad to see some other early addictees
